Theodora's Interests
|
| General | I have more interests than god, and they are frequently more diverse than expected. To give a small idea of what I'm talking about...A Perfect Circle, accents, aestheticism, animals, art, the Askewniverse, astrology, Athens GA, Atlanta, Audioslave, Jane Austen, balance, bisexuality, William Blake, Bouguereau, Buffy, caffeine, camping, candles, cats, Celtic art, religion, mythology, etc, cemeteries, cemetery art, classic movies, classical music, clothes, Clueless, coins, comparative religion, conversation, corsets, Cranberries, creativity, D&D, decadence, The Decadents, Charles Dickens, Emily Dickinson, diet coke, discordianism, Terry Pratchett's Discworld, drag queens, Dragon Hills, Dragon*Con, dressup, Edward Gorey, the eighties (music, movies, oh, tons of things), England, faeries, feminism, ferrets, fire, Fleetwood Mac, flirting, Foamy, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, friendship, Garbage, Gemini, ghosts, goth (the music, the look, the people...), Green Day, Halloween, Harry Potter, heels, henotheism, honor, humor, impressionism, information, Inkubus Sukkubus, insomniacs, intelligence, Ireland, James, jewelry, jewelrymaking, Jimmy Eat World, K's Choice, karma, Keane, kittens, knives, Korn, laughing, leather, Lemony Snicket, Leos, literature, Lord of the Rings, love, loyalty, Marcy Playground, Marilyn Manson, Mazzy Star, Metallica, mice, Moby, Modest Mouse, movies, museums, music, mythology, nature, New Orleans, New York City, night, Nightmare Before Christmas, Nine Inch Nails, the occult, oldies music, Orgy, paganism, philosophy, photography, Pink Floyd, Poe (the musician and the author), poetry, powerplays, Pre-Raphaelite art, precognition, Pride and Prejudice (BBC/A&E version as well as the novel), psychology, Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, Rasputina, reading, redheads, REM, Rob Zombie, Sagittarians (certain ones), Samhain, Savannah, sex, Shakespeare, shoes, singing, Sluggy Freelance, Smashing Pumpkins, Snow Patrol, snuggling, Soundgarden, Spectral Erosa, spikes, spirituality, Stone Temple Pilots, stones, surrealism, swords, tea, Terry Pratchett, The Changelings, The Cruxshadows, The Cure, The Donnas, The Killers, The Mars Volta, the moon, They Might Be Giants, Tool, travel, UGA, Underworld, vampirism, Van Gogh, velvet, Victorian studies, vinyl, Voltaire (the Philosophe and the musician/artist/etc), Oscar Wilde, writing.
This list represents a tiny slice of my interests. | | Music | See above to get an idea of certain bands. I'll listen to most anything but country (with a few notable exceptions) and most rap. And for gods sake, no Celine Dion, Jessica Simpson, boy bands, Creed, Incubus, Josh Groban, etc--I will not tolerate that crap. | | Movies | A few mentioned by name above in Interests...I tend to prefer romantic comedies, or comedies in general, classic movies, Mel Brooks (yes, him too, and the less classy but similar comedies), Kevin Smith films...it all depends. I tend to get seriously emotionally swayed by what I watch...I love Gods and Monsters, but I haven't been able to watch it for some time for that reason. I have to be careful. Often, life tends to throw the shite about like monkeys on crack at present, so I counter with funny movies with happy endings, or pretty movies that don't make me want to slap people (insert Pride and Prejudice here). I tend to go all Movie Critic when I watch films, so I'm rather selective on what I'll watch at the theatres...unless I'm depressive and need a quick fix, in which case I'll watch something like The Wedding Date or Bridget Jones 2. (I'll admit, two movies that go on repeat viewing for me are Clueless and Bridget Jones...but note, both are also Austen adaptations, and the third-most-watched is Pride and Prejudice.) | | Television | I barely get to watch TV anymore, but I just recently got cable again for the first time in about four years. Law & Order always has my vote, along with CSI, Monk, Psych, House, and some of the Sci-Fi offerings. I just bought Seasons 1 and 2 of Dead Like Me...and I happened to see Ellen Muth wandering around the lobby at the Marriott Thursday night of Dragon*Con. I was just too damn shy to try to say hello or introduce myself. Naturally, here are multiple others, but that will do for now. | | Books | I can say I frequently re-read all my Pratchett books, and I have more books than I have bookshelves or crates to put them in. I love a vast amount of literature, and there's no way I have time to write it all down. | | Heroes | Everyone who hasn't given up and tries to make the world a better place for at least one other person. |

Theodora's Blurbs |
About me:
I'm twenty-nine. I answer to most things, but I prefer Theodora (or Theo) or Karen to many of them. I'm not sure about what sort of things I should reveal, so I'll simply say that I'm best known by personal contact, be it real or virtual, as I prefer actively waging war or whispering wiles with words. If you know me from way back, I'm probably not even close to the same person you remember from long ago...until that one conversation in which you realize that I'm still that person, but I'm so many other people also now. I love my boyfriend, James, and that's all that needs saying on that topic. If I were to receive a magical bequest of five million dollars, I'd pay off my debts, get back in school, finish my Ph.D., find a better (still smallish and reasonable) place to live, and then go after the job I really want--a professorship in Victorian literature. And then I'd write, but I'd actually try for publishable scribblings now that I don't have to worry about being homeless and on the streets in debt to my ears. Like I do every day since I don't have that. In the meantime, I strive to survive, like everyone does. Recently, however, while I haven't paid off my debts, won five million, or gotten the job I want, I have gotten back into school at Georgia State for my Ph.D., so there has been progress.
There is no one answer--that is one of my main thoughts, and a key if you care to know me, and I have a wicked sense of humor when I'm not putting myself on display like this. Feel free to feel me out (but not up, please, happy with boyfriend) for conversation or friendship. --And no, I will NOT cheat on my boyfriend with man or woman, so please don't try to friend me for that purpose. I really just want just friends.

Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet Moby and Billy Corgan, and I'd suffer a serious flesh wound to meet Terry Pratchett. Other than that...I'd like to meet people who like to talk, and who'd like to talk with me, and if I'm lucky, they are people of a similar quickness of mind and thought, but they come from completely different backgrounds and perspectives. There's no point in meeting clones, unless you're feeling lonely and you don't have a mirror.
