I'm interested in the concepts of "love", "past", "loss" and "text"; latest work on the dialectic between "solidarity" and "detachment" in the contemporary novel through an exploration of the tropes of "meta-love", "pastness" and what I call the "reinsurgency of metaphysics" (see www.novel-conference.co.uk).

About me: "I think one is always in love with something or other; the error, and I confess it is not easy for spirits cased in flesh and blood to avoid it, consists in seeking in a mortal image the likeness of what is perhaps eternal".

Who I'd like to meet: Seeking to establish a network with thinkers, dancers, musicians, cooks, writers, ballerinas, cleaners, comrades, - you get the idea. No religious fanatics please (OF ANY CREED, that is; particularly, the violent ones). More specifically, I would rather NOT meet people who:
a) claim that "they are not racist", but "that Britain is over-populated as it is and that if foreigners come here then they should be like us"
b) think of "philosophy" as an alternative term for "new age"
c) discriminate against gay men and lesbian women.
