'Raucous Folk' originating from Irish, English and Scottish musical roots. Delving into the depths of our beginnings, we began on a cold evening appearing as The Riverside Folk Collective, an invention of Sir Matt Worley of Stourportshire, at the 'Theatre On The Steps' in Bridgenorth. The curious thing was, as an unestablished band with little to no experience and playing our debut in a theatre full to bursting point with Oasis fans, we somehow managed to win them all over with our true rock n roll spirit and had them boogying away in no time...
Anyway... we play locally, mostly in pubs or at small festivals, as well as private functions. As a family we have been playing together for about eight years. Lindsay plays Melodeon, Penny Whistle, Accordian, as well as a bit of Piano, Violin, & pretty much any instrument presented to her, although she would not admit to this... Her daughters are writing this without her knowledge by the way, in case you were wondering... we (her daughters) play melodeon, ukelele, banjolele, guitar, and some mandolin...
We have played at numerous music festivals, including Bromyard Folk Festival and Upton Folk Festival (for the Morris Dance side 'Salty Sal'). More recently we have played at the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival, Cheltenham Food & Drinks festival and Dinglestock Festival in Far Forest. We also partake in as many pub music sessions as possible, as this is by far our favourite past-time! Nothing beats that pub atmosphere... All the fine ales & ciders...
