The Ofersures (pronounced Oh - Fer - Shure-s) are an exciting new band out of Manhattan Beach, CA. The 5-piece group uses a line-up of mandolin, acoustic guitar, piano, bass & drums to produce a sound that is organic, fresh and new, while at the same moment, timeless and accessible. The Ofersures' music effortlessly travels the musical landscapes between Folk, Punk, Hillbilly, Indie, Roots Rock, Bluegrass, and even Tin Pan Alley--all tinged with the influence of the Southern California Beach culture that they grew up together in--to create an exciting hybrid of new sounds that pleasantly grasp the ears and remind us all about how fun music can be. Lyrically, the band is cutting, clever and current, taking us on adventures of love, loss, the Civil War, unemployment and even binge drinking -- all more like short stories, than your typical song, and all oozing with an infectious sense of humor and fun...
Formed in January 2008 by Sherif Shoucri (guitar, vocals) and Brian Gregoire (mandolin, vocals), the duo was determined to create a style that combined their older punk rock and indie influences with their newfound love of folk, bluegrass, and the Blues. The result?... Let's just say that Green Day and Earl Scruggs had a baby!...And it was raised by Simon & Garfunkel!! You get the picture, but their real story doesn't begin here...
The Ofersures’ real story began in 2003, on the mean streets of Manhattan (Beach, that is). Sherif and Brian, along with drummer Ediz Basol and lead-singer/guitarist Danny Maguire, formed Good for Nothing, a band fueled by deep friendship and a mutual devotion to punk music. Behind front-man Maguire's eclectic, original take on punk, Good for Nothing seemed poised for greatness, until Maguire was hit by a drunk-driver in 2005 and later passed away. It is out of these ashes that the Ofersures are rising, and attempting to fill the big shoes left by Maguire.
With Sherif switching from bass to guitar; Brian moving from guitar to mandolin; and Ediz continuing on drums, the band was in dire need of a bass player. Lucky for them, another childhood friend, solid bassist Danny Holmes, was without a band or job, sustained only by his love for folk music and a mighty sense of rhythm. He was quickly enlisted, as was Sherif's brother, Bassem Shoucri, playing piano, trumpet and the occasional trombone (yes, trombone). Their lineup complete now, the boys are eager to fulfill their destiny as the Ofersures.
In November of 2008, the Ofersures began making the record, "NEW SONGS FOR OLD FRIENDS," a satisfying blend of snappy, punk-infused folk tunes and slower ballads, which is available beginning April 25, 2009. Among the standout tracks is "Say Goodnight, Say Goodbye," -- a rousing, heart-rending expression of the band's experiences coping with the loss of their former front-man and friend Danny Maguire.
All in all, an exciting band, a dynamic record and the beginning of a new, friendlier sound, for friends new and old! Enjoy!

You guys were not just good last night, you were too good. We were thinking about just stealing all of your songs and assuming the Ofersure's name and identities while you are on hiatus. That way we could pick up on the greatness that you left off. Last night was both a pleasure and an honor and I wish you all the best in your musical/professional endeavors!
And thanks for cleaning up our mess as we some how managed to leave our paycheck that was literally sitting right in front of me and Tony's bass, quite the net loss. You guys take care, we are gunna brush up on your songs and maybe even just go cross country as The Mostlikelys, a tribute to The Ofersures. You guys rock, hope to see you around often.
Your CD is great you guys! And your Myspace page is sooooo beautiful! It was great to see you guys play in LA, it made my heart warm. (still mad that they didn't let you play longer)! Good luck with everything! ~Raina
Thanks guys for the add. I like the music!! And i like your site layout. Your drummer looks like Alex the lion from the Madagascar movies!! (at least in the picture of him on the left hand side of the page). Anyway...all the best, and keep making good music. If you have a chance, check out a couple of my songs! God bless!
