Brad Carney- Vocals and Guitar, DJ Hughes- Guitar, Robin Roberts- Drums, Dave Kasper- Bass
Influences
Tom Waits, Beck, Rocket From the Crypt, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, The Clash, Songs with a beat, My Morning Jacket, Old 97's, Elvis Costello, Wilco, The Blues Brothers, The Pixies, Social Distortion, Marah, Lucinda Williams, Radio Head, The White Stripes, anything that resembles the Blues and Soul and you damn right that sounds good kind of music. Just imagie all the bands that everyone has as influences and just put them here, okay.
THE OLD SOULS were created when DJ Hughes and Brad Carney sat down and talked at length about thier interests in music and what it meant to them at the time. DJ hadn't played in a band since his punk rock days, but he hadn't stopped writing. Brad had thought about creating new music at the time and this just seemed to fit.
DJ brought some songs created with Brian Newell to the basement of 2005.
In a short amount of time we created a set and rocked out at the Khyber.
With some member changes and some albums under our belt, we go into he studio with a new sense of purpose every time. Robin Roberts has stepped in to play drums for founding memeber Brian Newell. Brian has gone on to play with Adam and Dave's Bloodline. Dave Kasper is keeping our rhythm. Brad and DJ are still making the music and finding what interests them.
Thanks to all our friends out there who keep coming to shows and supporting us. We'll see you soon.
Live at Lickity Split! Adam Brodsky Jon Houlon (John Train, Donuts) Steph Hayes (Good problems, Stargazer Lily, Slo Mo) Dave Petersen (adam & dave's bloodline) Jason Cohn
