An indie-folk-pop group just two years in the making, Buffalo NY's the Old Sweethearts began in 2004 as a studio project of singer/songwriter and guitarist Roger Bryan. Bryan entered the studio with a rag-tag band of musicians whose former bands were an ecclectic who's who of the early 00's Buffalo music scene. That summer Bryan and company released "In Regards to Your Affairs", a collection of Bryan's early folk material given new life by the group's unique and sometimes bizzare studio work. Though the album recieved warm reviews (earning them opening slots with Ben Lee, Evan Dando, Richard Buckner, Elf Power, Blue Rodeo, 54/40, Kathleen Edwards, Petra Haden, Great Lake Swimmers, and Centromatic to name a few), the Sweethearts were already hard at work on their next release. By then that rag-tag group of musicians were solidifying into a serious band and wanted a recording that reflected the vast changes taking place in their sound.

The summer of 2005 saw the release of "Arms of the Town". This record took the band from the drunken folk of "In Regards. . ." to a more dramatic, pop/rock feel. The album, like everything about the Old Sweethearts, resonates with a rusty optimism indiginous to their native Buffalo, NY. The city built for a million people, but home to only 300,000 and falling.

The group has spent the last year touring in support of "Arms of the Town" and has been working on material for their upcoming new record. Look for the Old Sweethearts on tour this fall/winter.
