   About The Old-Timerz
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Chef has quit the Old-Timerz. If you would like to assume our drumming throne please mail us a cassette of you playing the drums along to our music... with no mistakes! .................................................................................................................. In 1998, eagle scout Clifton Pittman dazzled the sold-out crowd at his high school's homecoming game with a one handed rendition of "Wipe Out" delivered on the hood of a '57 Chevy driven onto the 50 yard line for halftime. Arch-rival quarterback Dennis Healy was so impressed by this feat of dexterity that he cornered Clifton after the game and offered him the drummer's job in his legendary band, the Whippersnapperz. Clifton jumped at the chance and soon found himself awash in pocket change and phone numbers. The Whippersnapperz were kings of the Central Texas teen scene.

After one particularly inspiring gig at a benefit for Alzheimer's patients outside a Luby's in Killeen, TX, Dennis Healy was recruited to fill in for ailing superstar Pat Glamour of the headlining act, The Williamson County Old-Timers Revue. Dennis assumed the identity of Pat Glamour and was received fairly by the Old-Timers audience, despite the obvious age difference wi th the real Pat. The Whippersnapperz atrophied into inactivity due to the rigorous performing schedule of Dennis new outfit and Clifton pondered re-enrolling in high school or getting his G.E.D.

Luckily (for Clifton), another tragedy befell the Williamson County Old-Timers Revue. Their drummer, crotchety old wild man the Chef, broke his hip during a gig and Clifton was called in to replace him on the recommendation of Dennis Healy. The two friends were excited to be playing together again, especially with the superior material inherit in the Old-Timers cannon. The audience, however, was less than thrilled about this turn of events. Its never easy to replace two members with 40 plus years of band loyalty, but when the last remaining original Old-Timer Gene Defcon was kidnapped, things became practically impossible.

Clifton and Dennis were facing 6 months of previously booked touring commitments, and had no choice but to place an ad in t he Thrifty Nickel to try to find a replacement. The only applicant was Christopher Lyons, who had yet to play a musical instrument and had never heard the music of the Williamson County Old-Timers Revue. The boys were forced to hire him on and they made the best of their remaining gigs.

At times it was horrific, but towards the end it was something else altogether. Yes, in fact, in was magic. The hard core Old-Timers fans even began returning to their shows. Things were looking up.

But, of course, it couldn't last forever. The original members of the group all either healed or were released by their kidnappers. They owned the band name and they wanted it back. It wasn't so easy. Clifton, Dennis, and Christopher had become the Chef, Pat Glamour, and Gene Defcon. They decided to keep going, Williamson County Old-Timers Revue be damned. They changed their name to the strikingly similar yet strangely un-sueable, The Old-Timerz, and continue to dazzle Central Texas audience's today.
