There is a myth i have heard.
It tells me that we live in a free world.
My government tells me "neither slavery nor involuntary servitude... shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
My teachers and my parents taught me that slavery ended in the 1800's.
They weren't wrong, because they didn't know..............
27 million slaves exist in our world today.
in OUR world...
TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND people live enslaved at this moment in the United States.
17,500 more will be trafficked across our borders this year, just like the year before, and the year before, and the year before.
"Again I observed all the oppression that takes place in our world. I saw the tears of the oppressed, with no one to comfort them. The oppressors have great power, and the victims are helpless. So i concluded that the dead are better off than the living. And most fortunate of all are those who were never born. For they have never seen all the evil that is done in our world."
- Ecclesiastes 4:1-3
