I began my career as a DJ in 2000/1 in the heart of London’s Soho and Westend club circuit, playing at venues such as ROCK, BROWNS, KABARET, AKA and the EMPORIUM. I enjoyed this time a lot… I was 19, DJ-ing in clubs that I couldn’t afford to drink in(!) playing for London's rich socialites, week-in week-out. I fell in love with the job, and when finishing university I didn’t think twice about continuing something that was already full time.
The summer of 2002, I was invited to play in Ibiza at TRADE, PRIVILEGE. It was my first real experience of DJ-ing abroad – and in front of 4000+ people. In fact I made my decision not long after, to leave the London the following summer, and swap it for Barcelona’s equally vibrant party scene. Playing abroad and travelling is for me an integral part of why I enjoy DJ-ing. New places and new crowds.
In Spain I began to play the clubs, L’ATLANTIDA, OTTO ZUZT, LOUIE VEGA as well as across the French border in Montpellier, VILLA ROUGE. The experience of playing in Spain, alongside some of the finest producers and DJs in Europe was something I’ll never forget, as well as allowing me to explore playing different styles comfortably and in front knowledgeable crowds.
Returning to London in Spring 2003, I initially travelled every weekend to Barcelona and Paris to play in MANDELA, a private members club, whilst also playing in the SANCTUARY club, Soho. In April 2003 The SALVATION Group invited me to play at a new monthly event, BABYLON-BURLESQUE. Later in the year I began to work on the Salvation Tour Circuit, first in Zurich, then Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Malmo.
During the summer of 2003 I began my current residency at London’s most hedonistic of after-hours, FIRE. It is a venue that has become synonymous with marathon parties sometimes lasting days. Beginning initially with ORANGE and A:M, it has continued to grow year by year both in club nights and rooms(!) At this time I played guest spots at CRASH, and its own after-hours, together with BEYOND.
Since 2004 the international dates have continued and some of my favourite have been to South Africa, Brazil, USA, Russia, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia and Philippines. To date I have played 29 cities, in 15 countries and I hope to add many more. London has also continued to busy, adding LATER and GRAVITY to the residencies at FIRE, and once a month for TRAX RECORDS at HEAVEN.
2007 is a year that I will see very little daylight in, mainly because I will be in the studio working or in the clubs mixing. FOR MUSIC GO TO www.theoli.com
