The Olivers had a humble beginning as three transplants in Williamsburg (Dawson Smith - guitarist/vocalist, Tim Favorite - guitarist/vocalist, and Tim Shea - bassist) plotted to pay tribute to Japanese pop music (J-Pop, if you will, and I'm sure you will) by forming a band known as Round Eye. This plan was however, flawed, due to language barriers and lack of high-pitched vocals. They eventually went with an alternative plan of singing in English and calling themselves The Olivers. They still sought out a percussionist to keep their various musical instincts reined in, a shepherd if you will for the straying of their musical sheep...oh dear, how did we get sidetracked talking about sheep? anyway, we found him in one Jeremy Pollack, who plays a mean doumbek. And they lived happily ever after. Or did they? Guess you'll have to keep listening to find out.
After much thrashing about, the odd gig, and far too much of the Gowanus Canal, The Olivers recorded a full-length CD. And they saw it was good. "It's Not You, It's The Olivers" can be downloaded in full from this site: http://amiestreet.com/viewProfile.php?id=93773
