" 'Post-War Parade' is, by turns, moody and uplifting....It is music you can dig into deeply." -Burlington County Times
"The Once Was combine classic and indie rock with bits of country and even a dash of latin influence, resulting in an album with depth, texture, and personality" - -NY Rock Examiner
"Their music is filled with tranquility but also gives you an intense feeling of euphoria, you feel like your listening to something worth while." - Turn Up The Sound
BIO:
Hailing from Moorestown, New Jersey, The Once Was is an eclectic four-piece indie rock band descending from the creative zealot that is the home recording studio. Collaborating existential lyrical themes with progressive indie-pop rhythms, the band brings an energetic and surprising live show to audiences and enthusiasts alike. In April 2009 the band released their debut full length album "Post War Parade." Based on a shoestring budjet leftover from local gigging, the band independently produced the album at Studio 4 in Philadelphia, followed by a cd release at the World Cafe Live. Recently the band has released a follow up EP entitled "Rugged City." The 5 song EP was recorded in Philadelphia, and in San Francisco while the band was on tour in California during the summer of '09. The EP can be downloaded for free at www.theoncewas.com
Great show last night guys!! It sucks the game was on behind us.. I think the crowed was a bit distracted. And how rude were people, why did they need to yell and cheer during the game and interrupt your set?... lame. But you guys sounded great and we really enjoyed it.
Hey Fellas, Hope it's rollin' like it should be. We're putting the finishing touches on our album. We think you'll be proud. We'll call you guys soon and make some fall plans.
Thanks! I'm a huge fan!!! Let me know if you ever need a photographer. I'm not asking for any money because I'm really just trying to build a portfolio. I just want to see great shows and capture the moment with great pics. You do get to keep them for your own use. I work here on the east coast and I also make it out to LA from time to time. Keep in touch. Hope to see you around!
Of course I remember you guys. Was chattin with you in front of Doc Watson's and it was one of your birthdays...that day....the guy with the real curly hair, I think...lol.....and the band had a different name too.
Seems like you guys are doing well and going places. We met and I saw you play at Doc Watson's in Philly about a year and a half ago. I was with my friends "Lightstone" who also played that night.
Hey Hi Hello...
Been daydreaming about getting over to rawk your side of the country, but the piggy bank is looking pretty sad lately. So, we'll just give you a virtual cruise till we can get an east coast thing happening (hopefully in the next year). Have a kickass weekend.
