About The one and only G men
The G-men have been through many changes since their humble beginnings back in the late 1980’s. They had rose from the ashes of ska band the Restrictors who had gained mass popularity in the North East of England with their up-beat shows. The G-men played their first gig in January 1990 at the Coatham Hotel in Redcar, it was during this show that the infamous inflatable Newcastle Brown Ale Bottle was first introduced to an unsuspecting audience to coincide with their signature tune “Bottle Of Dog”. After the usual start for most bands playing gigs locally the G-Men started to look further a field gaining support slots with acts such as Bad Manners, The International Beat, The Nutty Boys and the Trojans to name but a few. It was the success of these shows that gave the band well deserved supporting slots with legends of Ska Laurel Aitken, Judge Dread and Bim Ska La Bim. This then helped them secure a place supporting The Selector on their “Out On The Streets” tour. The band went various through line up changes over the years taken them up to the year 2000 when the band finally released their long awaited debut CD album, 'The G-Files’ on Northern Sky records. Their last performance was in April 2002; although this was not meant to be the last gig, things just sort of went their own way after that gig and the band drifted apart. During summer 2007 Dins decided to put together a new band so along with Andy from Last Rough Cause, Laze from Major Accident and ex G-man Dell rehearsals began. Fate then took a slight twist, during one drunken session and at Dell’s insistence the band performed a few G – men songs and so it began. Mark was asked to join the band for the next rehearsal and the G-men were reborn. Watch this space!!!

First the bad news !!!
It is with great regret that we announce the depature of founder member Dins from the G-men on these pages. Dins has been the driving force behind the bands tunes and will be sadly missed. We have some outstanding bookings which Dins has said he will play at and on September 5th he will perform his last show with the band at the Forum in Darlington, so we wish him well for the future.

We are hoping to keep the band going but as Dins was such a multi-talented guy we are going to need a keyboard player and a singer to replace him so if there's anyone out there who would like to give it go get in touch with the band throughy these pages.

Back in Darlo
For me our gig on 14th June will be almost 19 years since LRC played Darlington, for Max it will be the first time he has played our songs since 1985.

As you can imagine we are really looking forward to this one, so much so we have a couple of new tunes to throw in for the night and we will be playing almost all of skins and punks.

So get yourselves down to the Tap and Spile in Darlington on the 14th June for some good old punk classics from Last Rough Cause plus one of the best bands to come out of the Northeast music scene in years The Steady boys.

See you there

Andy

Thanks for adding us, let us know when ur playing newcastle

Come rebels and revolutionaries to a night of rebel music this saturday 29th 9pm at Northumberland arms, Newcastle upon Tyne, £3 in to raise funds for Rock Around the Bloackade to send a brigade over to Cuba with resources in January 2009. Northumberland arms is a pub just off Northumberland street in central Newcastle, it's located down the stairs on the side street after the
Eldon square entrance on Northumberland street next to M+S.
Rock around the Blockade is a campaign that supports Cuba against the US blockade that has been in place since 1961 and is estimated to have cost Cuba over $89 billion directly and is part of US hostile actions towards Cuba that has cost at least 3,478 Cuban lives and incapacitated at least another 2,099 people.

The blockade continues despite the UN general assembly members voting against the blockade for the 16th year running (184 voted in favour and only 4 voted against!) for more information visit www. ratb. org. uk

It's only £3, for a good cause and will be a good laugh with a cuban themed bar

This place is looking a bit bare at the moment so I thought I'd add a comment. :-)

How about putting some videos up?
Has Dins still got the video of The G Men supporting The Selecter at Dexys Club in Sunderland? The sound quality on that video was pretty good from what I remember. Shame that all you could really see was my jumper glowing in the dark though :-/
