I'm a music fanatic, with an alarmingly anal obsession with collecting vinyl. It's the ONLY format for the true music lover! Feel free to pop your MP3's up your bottom ;-)
I also like football and amusing things. Happily, I support West Ham Utd, so have managed to combine two interests in one! I also have an unhealthy interest in the paranormal (as opposed to the paraplegic), and will get unfeasibly excited at anything that remotely resembles a UFO, the Loch Ness monster or Bigfoot.
................Of course I realise that disclosing this information, makes my chances of attracting new friends, just slightly less than those of an evangelical preacher with leprosy :-(

Music
Headed by the holy trinity (....except.... errr, there's four of them) of Genesis, Pink Floyd, Rush and Blue Oyster Cult........
.......and closely followed by everything from The Icicle Works to Iron Maiden, Kate Bush to Kiss, Demon to Neil Diamond, Pallas to Pearl Jam, Supertramp to Slayer, Talking Heads to Tenacious D, Lloyd Cole to John Cougar, Counting Crows to Celtic Frost, Jethro Tull to Jane's Addiction, REM to IQ, The Go-Go's to The Go Betweens, Venom to Van Der Graaf Generator, Boz Scaggs to Bo Deans, Faith No More to Faster Pussycat, Marillion to Metallica, Mermaid Kiss to Mercyful Fate, Thin Lizzy to Twelfth Night, Blue Nile to Black Sabbath, Husker Du to Hawkwind, Dire Straits to Dead Kennedys, Phideaux to The Alan Parsons Project, Boston to Kansas, Lush to Led Zeppelin.....and pretty much all points in-between!
........oh, and I also have a bizarre love of long forgotten 80's bands like Altered Images, Toyah, A Flock Of Seagulls, Blancmange, Ultravox, Quarterflash, Berlin, The Motels and Tears For Fears......and I even own a China Crisis album!!!
To get an idea as to what kind of person i am, among my favourites are Halloween, Pretty In Pink, The Thing, Jaws, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Hi Fidelity, Gregory's Girl, Scream, Pump Up The Volume, Close Eencounters Of The Third Kind, The Fog, This Is Spinal Tap, The Wedding Singer, Almost Famous and Clerks........so I bet your still none the wiser!!!
I realise this bit was quite out of date, as half the shows I had listed aren't even on anymore! So here goes.........As a kid, it was Grange Hill, Top Of The Pops and the recently re-visited Children Of The Stones that got me all of a youthful quiver, and in my teenage years, it was The Young Ones, and...err...probably not much else.
As an young adult I loved Auf Wiedersehen Pet, The Tube, The Old Grey Whistle Test and then later became obsessed with the X Files (although I HATE most other sci-fi crap!) Probably something to do with the presence of the wonderfully shagable Gillian Anderson ;)
As of now, its Scrubs, Desperate Housewives, The Office, My Name Is Earl, QI, Phoenix Nights / Max and Paddy, The I.T Crowd, Fonejacker, Saxondale, Gavin And Stacey and things of that ilk that tend to float my boat. Do not, however, subject me to ANY soap opera's, as they are badly acted, badly written, worthless cack, that quite frankly bring me out in a nasty rash ;)
I also have a liking for US stuff like Weeds and Invasion, as well as the camp and stagey - yet often genuinely scary - Most Haunted.....and also recently got well into BBC1 prime-time show Primeval - due, no doubt, to the fact it featured dinosaurs, weird monsters, and the cute blonde one from S club 7 ;)
Oh...and Californication is pure genius :)
Books
My bookshelves are straining under the weight of biographies on half the bands listed in my 'music' section!
As far as fiction goes, it's Stephen King, James Herbert, Shaun Hutson.........the usual predictable suspects that fans of rock music tend to like! I am SUCH a boring anorak!
Last read Stuart Maconie's "Cider With Roadies".
Mind you, I am actually attempting to write a novel of my own - which has been on hold for the last few years, but has now been resurrected, and will eventually be completed.....and thrust onto an unsuspecting world! You have been warned!!
Heroes
Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and yes...even Phil Collins(!), Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Buck Dharma & Eric Bloom from the mighty BOC, Paul Stanley, Angus Young, Bruce Springsteen, Doug, Jerry and Ty from King's X, David Lee Roth, Tommy Shaw and JY from Styx, Phil Lynott, Geddy, Neil and Alex from Rush........and probably any other old rockers you care to mention! I'm just a star-struck teenager at heart!!
Oh - and Storm Thorgerson and Hugh Syme.....and if you don't know who either of them are, you probably should have stopped reading this a while ago ;)

The Only Sane Man I don't care what they think.....you're all I believe in.....I carry you here....and there's something of you.....in everything I love x Posted at 1:31 PM Dec 30, 2009 view more
About me: A simple man, in an ever more confusing world.............
Depending on your geeky internet preferences, you might know me as "The Only Sane Man" if you're a Demon fan, "Harrold The Barrel" if you're a Genesis fan, "Duckie Dale Winton" If you're an 80's fan, and.....errr..... "Peter" if you're my mother!
I still remember when you had to get up to change channels (and there were only 4), when albums still had a 'side 1' and 'side 2', when Space Invaders was considered cutting edge technology, and Uranus was still pronounced "your-anus".......... do you?????????
Myspace Cursors
As far as myspace goes.... I would like to meet people who will amuse me, entertain me, enthrall me, stimulate me, challenge me, confide in me and talk shite with me.
I also particularly enjoy getting friend requests from bands who have spent no time whatsoever reading my profile and seeing what I'm into, and have simply added me as another anonymous number that they have absolutely NO intention of communicating with, in the hope that I will buy their rubbish album! I sure will friends - maybe even two copies ;) My personal favourite so far has been the London based 'Gangsta Rap' collective who obviously thought "oh yes - this chap likes Genesis and Pink Floyd - he's sure to get off on our ill conceived, mysoginistic, gun-totin' brainless sexist hip-hop horsehit".
I certainly did fella's.....I certainly did ;-)
I do, however, like getting to know bands that I DO actually have an interest in. Bands that are trying to say something musically, and who also turn out to be extremely nice people. Like this wonderful lot........
(I think we agreed a fiver, right Jamie?!)
If you want to find out a bit more about this fine band, then join this humble little dicussion group I've got involved in, and see exactly why they have received the official 'Only Sane Man Endorsement' - a mark of quality, recognised the world over. Well..... at my house anyway.
....Oh, and if you DON'T, then I know who you are, and where you live ;)
hehehehheehe, omg, u so silly, sexy boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope da snow aint too bad in ur part of da galaxy... we are snowed in, our first blizzard in ages, its fun, plus its like 20 degrees, not negative 10, so dat is actually a plus... snow angels (and zombies) can be made!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxxoxo
Hope you have a great New Year's Eve...and the rest! See you've just added an REO Speedforeigner to your playlist thingy...hadn't listened to THAT in years. Anyway, have a good un. Hope 2010 brings you all yer heart desires and all that soppy shite! x
Watch out for that 2 x 4 mate! Anyway, I told ya before...when I need cheering up, I go look at your pics, the captions and the comments from your humorous friends.
I probably managed to fit in another couple of comments in the time it took you to send me a comment. Thank you too!! x
Hey Petrovski. Hope you had a good day? My family & I went for a Chinese buffet...as is traditional, in China & Aberdeen. It was awesome! I over indulged on prawns, in various guises. Home just in time to catch the end of the Queen's speech & then watched the soaps until I passed out thru sheer mental exhaustion. Yup, it was a grand ole bunfight. Will have to be up bright & early to order a drum kit in the Next sale (I KNOW...right? A Next drum kit? WTF?), but have to encourage the budding Cozy Powells huh! X luv & goodwill n stuff. A.
Hey, that's what cyber friends that you've never met and are never likely to, are for! Anyway, it's a mutual thing. If I'm feeling a bit down, I just go look at your pictures of you in the 80's....and it cheers me right up. I guess we're a couple of moa sensitive old gits huh?
Hope you have an SOUND Christmas (as all the kids are saying these days).
