BIO:
To mirror the identity of the times, The Opposite Sex
express a shocking vision of dark beauty in a world
to come. They are a post-punk band with a dark pop
sense. Their live performances are a charged
exploration of theater & sound.
The band has been characterized as having an
"atmosphere of lurking hope, with an air of excitement
" by Drop Dead magazine. At a recent live show
BigTakeover magazine described their performance as
"arresting post-punk, complete with a slightly saucy
glam stomp".
Upon their e.p. release in late 2005, they were
invited to play Drop Drop Dead Festival 4 (nyc), as
well as Winterfest '07 & Popnoise 3 in Philadelphia.
Displaying the band's versatility they recently
performed a spring fashion event for the well known
designer Betsey Johnson.
Our self titled e.p. and full length album (Violent Heartstrings) are available from the following distributors:

I've had a bad couple of months. I mean really REALLY bad. (Hence my reclusive state of existence). Seeing you guys tonight helped me feel a little better. I really must get out more.
I'm going to spin your stuff this Sat at Midnight. I'm still thinking if I want to work in Somewhere Girl or Does anybody truly love anybody else. We'll see how it goes. Keep rockin guys. I can't get enough of The Opposite Sex. You guys are the bomb. Cheers, DJ FIX
Modern English is heard in track 1. Batfish Boys "kansas" on track2. A little Insulin Reaction on track 5. More Modern English on track 6. A sprinkle if glam guitar on track 7. Some Inca Babies and a hint of Husker Du in track 9. The vocal styles and sounds are a mesh of Uk Decay's Abbo meets Theatre Of hate/Spear Of Destiny's Kirk Brandon.
What surprised me most about this CD after listening to it, is one expects it to had been a obscure release from 1982, recently unearthed from the darkest depths.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the snazzy press pack,cd, and ADD!
You guys should add somewhere girl on your page so that I can put it on my myspace. I spin that song every time I DJ a goth event. One of the best songs ever.
In my opinion: 1) You guys rock...period. 2) You're probably the best thing going on in this area. 3) You get exponentially better every time I see you (apparently I'm not the only one who notices this). 4) Paul is absolutely adorable...and a fucking amazing musician. 5) I typically get irritated by singers who don't play instruments, maybe it'a a past life hang-up. But if Shawn played an instrument other than his voice it would ruin it because his energy and voice are 1045770358% all he needs. 6) If I could play even 1/4 as good as Dave I could die happy. 7) Paul is adorable. 8) I really hope you keep this new kid around. 9) Please play more. I'll do better about coming to see you. It makes me happy.
