THE OPTIONALS are a three piece melodic punk band from Sydney, Australia. We have been kickin' ass since late 2002, releasing our debut album in 2003, creatively titled "The Optionals". Several shows later and after a line up change, we released our first e.p as a three piece titled "Believe or Burn" in 2005. Enter line up change 2 with the departure of our drummer but the gain of our wonderful new one, Danny! Well, newish....
In our time as The optionals we have been lucky enough to play with some of our fave bands as well as some shit ones, but hey a show is a show! Bands we have shared the stage with include LEATHERFACE (UK), AGAINST ME, THE BOUNCING SOULS, HAPPY HATE ME NOTS, FRONT END LOADER, FRENZAL RHOMB, LOVE OF DIAGRAMS, THE DISABLES, HUNTSMAN, A DEATH IN THE FAMILY, H-BLOCK (R.I.P), HELL CITY GLAMOURS, ZOMBIE GHOST TRAIN, UNPAID DEBT, STAYING AT HOME (R.I.P), TWIN CITY FACTION, DAREDEVIL, THE PORKERS, CONATION (R.I.P), FURTHER, BAGSTER, THE FOCUS, LUNGS and MINK JAGUAR to name a few!
Well its now 2007, and although things have been a little quiet on the gig front, we are three quarters of the way through recording our new album "DEAD TO REALISE" on the mighty Poison city label. "GHOUL IS GONE", found on the "POISON THE WORLD 2" compilation and now "SLURRING MY LIFE STORY" can be found on "POISON THE WORLD 3" and is a taste of what's to come. Enjoy!

followers!! Sorry for the
disappearing act. Maggie cracked her head open during a basement show, so we’ve
been out(no pun intended) for awhile. She is almost better so when that happens
we’ll be back in the recording studio. In the meantime, we did manage to
convince our buddies at myspace.com/onryeproductions to let us do the video
game SFX that are on their newest episode.
