Kudos to the many folks who filled the Vector's drum throne before (and after) Mr. Pyburn. They include, Matt Patterson, Steven Hager, Dave Devlin, Chad Clark and the late great Randy Carr.
Props to Craig Briscoe of the Tazers as well, for his great stick work in FROZEN SHOULDER. (Dave & Dan's New York Dolls-influenced band after the Vectors.)

Vectors: Behind the Orange Curtain CD, November 1, 2003... (Highest rating)
Reviewer: A music fan on Amazon.com
This is an outstanding CD containing (most importantly) the recordings the Vectors did during the late 1970s and early 1980s. (not to be confused with the Swedish band also called the "Vectors").
It bridges the gap between early California-style KBD punk/surf punk and new wave and powerpop from the same era. If you like the first two Ramones albums, the first two Stranglers albums, the first two Devo albums, the Readymades, the first Humans EP, etc., then this CD is for you. It's minimalist. It's fantastic. It's very retro 1970s punk, but definitely not hardcore punk.
Some would consider the Vectors closer to a new wave band, though others would disagree. In any event, this CD comes highly, highly recommended.
The Vectors emerged from the Fullerton, California punk scene in the late ’70s. Their first break came when they entered a novelty song called "Death to Disco" in a contest that radio station KROQ was having for a "NO DISCO" compilation record. (The Insane Darrell Wayne.)
The song appeared on the album and gained radio airplay on KROQ, KNAC and several college radio stations. They put together a permanent line-up and began gigging around Orange County and Los Angeles. Unfortunately, at the time major labels were not signing young punk/power pop bands so the Vectors had to be content to be self sufficient and became a major "D.I.Y." band.
The band’s legend grew many years after their heyday, due to the growth of the Internet. "Death to Disco", (the original 7" single) became one of the most sought after punk rock records in the world, since only about 500 or so were originally produced. (With two versions of a self-printed record sleeve.)
Although the band were huge fans of fellow OC Punks like Social Distortion, Adolescents, TSOL, and D.I., their sound was a bit more "powerpop", thus the Vectors remained somewhat of a cult band compared to the S.D.s & T.S.O.L’s of the world.
NEWSFLASH APRIL 2008!! Dave and Dan are currently in Bob Emmet Studios (Culver City) digitally re-mixing the Vectors’s recently located analog master tapes. The tapes contain many of the classic Vector’s tunes such as "Death To Disco."
These remixes are in preparation for the special "30th Anniversary Retrospective" release that will feature digitally remixed/remastered tracks, plus several new tunes. Stay tuned on MySpace for the details and check out video clips of the re-mix sessions here on the website." In 2008, the Vectors still field requests from booking agents for tours in Europe, Japan, and here at home. Though the band is not currently in "touring mode", the future is wide open, and the possibility of new Vectors material is looking like a reality in 2008/2009!!
