The only hobbies I love besides going .. is singing karaoke, doing martial arts, and playing video games whn I get the. I used to love going clubbin with my ex as I used to love doing hip hop dancing back in da day. Did that for many years. But since my wife doesn't really like I haven't gone in years. Would like to go again one day though.
Music
My main influences are R&B/Pop from the 80's and 90's. Especially the New Jack Swing movement created by musical genius pioneer Teddy Riley.(Yup Yup!!) And of course I love Boy Band music. Reason is I love groups is I love harmony and synchronized choreography. Which is why I made my group. The groups from the past I've loved listening to and emulating range anywhere from The Tempations, The Stylistics, Troop, Guy, NKOTB, Boys II Men, Color Me Badd, and my favorite group of all time New Edition. Also can't forget the Boy groups from Hawaii's past Brownskin aka Faceless, Disguyz, Brotherhood, and The New Generation. Solo artists I like to emualate are
Babyface, Ralph Tresvant, Keith Sweat, Johnny Gill, Keith Martin, Peabo Bryson, Tony Terry, Tyrese, Bryan Abrams, Justin Timberlake. Did I mention I also sing J-Pop? I also love the Japanese R&B scene. My main influneces are Kubota Toshinobu, Hirai Ken, Chemistry, and Exile. Although I only know two songs from Yutaka Ozaki he is also an influence to me.
Movies
I am a martial arts buff so of course I love Bruce Lee movies, Sho Kosugi (the ninja) movies, Van Damme movies, Jeff Speakman, Steven Seagal, and Jet Li movies. But I also love anything science fiction, and fantasy like Star Wars saga, Lord of the rings saga, Equilibrium, i robot, 5th element just to mention a few. And there are some comedy and dramas that I like as well but I won't mention them because I am getting tired of thinking and typing. &_&
Television
I rarely watch tv nowadays. But when I did watch tv I used to like watching shows like Macguyver, Knight Rider, and Airwolf. Mostly shows from that era. There isn't anything now that interests me. The last shows I used to watch was Alias, Dark Angel, CSI. I just didn't have the time to catch up on them. And unlike everyone else I don't like American Idol. I don't think it is a fair contest making people sing things that there are not accustomed to. Like if there were a singing contest with R&B I could probably do very well I think. But if I had to sing in a rock, or country contest I would probably wouldn't make it. My point I think they should judge them on their stage presence,
their vocal stylings, and how good they know their genre. Also I think it is very important to know harmonization even if you are not in a group. No matter what genre you sing harmony will have a place in it. If you are really serious about being a recording artist you will have to eventually record your background vocals. And if you don't know how to do that then you have no business trying to be a singer. That's just my opinion.
Books
I mostly like to read books on martial arts or martial philosophy as they apply in daily life. Like the book of five rings, the art of war, and so forth.
Heroes
My heroes would have to be people in history who fought for a cause or purpose that nobody else would have had the guts to do. First of all Jesus, he was born man so he actually had a choice to die for us or not. Even when mankind didn't deserve his sacrifice he still chose anyway to die for us. Second Minamoto Yoshitsune was a war hero in Japan who against all odds avenged his father's death and fought alongside his brother to unite Japan in peace. But as all stories his brother got jealous and ordered him killed. And all that time he just wanted his brother's love. William Wallace who took up arms against England so that his fellow Scots would know freedom. Joan or Arc who by the will of God united France to fight against the English so that her country would know independence. And lastly all the men and women who served in our past wars to defend our way of life. Those people will never be forgotten for their sacrifices.
About me: I guess here's a little 411 about me. I am 34, I'm married, and have no children as of yet, I live in Hawaii, my hobbies are recording my music, singing karaoke to keep my vocals sharp and doing martial arts to help me focus. Other than that I am either online or working. As for the reason I call myself the boy band reject is first that's what all my friends at karaoke call me and second I really am a boy band reject. I had auditioned
years ago on the first "Making the band". They said I was good but when they asked me my age then they debated for a good 10 minutes before they said thank you. I knew once I told them my age it was over. Many people told me I should have lied. Well that's my story.
