   About Pretty Killer
PRETTY KILLER formed in Fremont California back in the mid-late 70's. They only recorded once in some garage on Doan St. in Fremont called Pearls Place. And we never really finished the demo...:( The recording on myspace here, is from an old broken cassette tape found in a shoe box I thought was an Ice Chest when I was searching for a beer!..Only the left side of the tape played when transfered to disc...Oh Well... The band was Jimmy (Francis Schmith) on guitar and vocals who later became the guitarist for the 80's punk band CRUCIFIX. Larry (Lars) Carter on Drums who went on to become the drummer for the late 70's early 80's new wave band ROMEO VOID. Ben Wong on bass who went into the mortgage/real estate business and now plays on occassion with RONNIE MONTROSE. As young kids in fremont they worked and hung around at the Ivar H. Johnson music store in the Fremont Hub. Other PRETTY KILLER members were Bill Costa on vocals and guitar who later went on to work with Y&T. Bill has seemed to vanish off the face of the earth. Kevin Carlson who at one point was going to play guitar with PRETTY KILLER went on to play with ALDO NOVA, ERIC MARTIN & UFO. Kevin is still active in the music scene with his own musical projects and he sometimes plays guitar with THE ERIC MARTIN BAND. PRETTY KILLER was inspired by local heros YESTERDAY & TODAY, MILE HI, STREET PUNKS etc.. In the years to follow some members of PRETTY KILLER and some members from the bands above have all somehow been connected in one musical situation or another! It's a Bay Area thing! Many new bands developed out of the PRETTY KILLER era.. The Toys - The Next - Bomb Squad - The Rave... This story and list could go on for days! when there is more time I'll write some more!!~ Jimmy Crucifix continued his adventures into Hard Core Punk with CRUCIFIX and played with CRIME - PISTON - FANG - RESISTOLEROS - TVH - PROUDFLESH and continues to play and perform with PROUDFLESH and ALBINO ASSASSINS. There was another version of PRETTY KILLER that Jimmy put together in 1986 with former members of CRIME - CODE OF HONOR - JOHNNY THUNDERS etc.. The band PISTON who became FABULOUS DISASTER named there first record PRETTY KILLERS... Lynda always liked the way the name looked on Jimmys guitar case!! (It's still on all his Flying V cases 30 years later!) ..
