Sounds Like
danzig, misfits, ramones, johnny cash, hank williams, the clash, dead milkmen, michale graves, motorhead, nofx, sex pistols, t.s.o.l., total chaos,
black flag, bad religion, bikini kill, rancid, the clash, generation-x, etc. - all of them and more. our music is very hard and fast at times and at others it can be poppy. the lyrics are mainly dark and twisted and at times are inspired by the greatest horror films, but you'll also hear songs about angst, regret, and sorrow. it's pretty safe to say that we sound like no other band.
The PRiCKS are: Shawn Michael Allen on vocals & bass, Tim Smith on Guitar, Royle also on guitar, and Justin Smith on drums. On the scene since ‘96, the PRiCKS are one of the busiest bands from the central valley. They’ve been the featured spotlight artists on both 104.1 KFRR‘s, and 103.7 KRZR’s local music shows (both rock stations are based in Fresno). And beginning last October, their song, ’Blood’ became the most requested song on Merced’s 92.5 the Bear rock station, so much so, that they were included in their regular rotation being heard up to 5 times a day!
It’s hard to classify the PRiCKS sound since during their checkered past they’ve had the dubious honors of opening for such punk & metal bands as: the Dickies, post-Graves Misfits, post-Misfits Michale Graves and Dr. CHUDD, Blood on the Saddle, Total Chaos, and Wednesday 13; played the Rockin’ Roots Festival in Bakersfield, Ca. which also featured Kottonmouth Kings, the Millionaires, OPM, and EEK-A-MOUSE; to playing with radio staples like Weezer, Rise Against, and Six Ounce Gloves.
The current, self-titled CD is the PRiCKS’ 3rd self-released album. The first, ‘C.Y.A. (Corrupt Youth of America)’ in 1999, and ’No Way Out’ in 2001.
When it comes to subject matter, and musical styling, the PRiCKS are all over the place. All the while doing it while sounding like no other band around. Songs like the sing-along-sex-song ‘Point Of No Return’, the pissed-at-the-government ‘We The People’, the Shining inspired ‘Dull Boy Jack’, and the flat-out rockers: ‘Stab You In The Throat’, ‘Good Lickin’ Tonight’, and the ever-popular ‘Blood’ showcase a wide variety of influence and range and guarantee a wide scope of appeal as the PRiCKS have gained fans ranging in age from 12 to 60+ both male and female. People know that when they’re going to see the PRiCKS, they’re going to be entertained.
You see, when it comes to the PRiCKS live, they are a can’t miss opportunity as they relish the chance to perform whenever they can! If they’re playing near: go see them if they’re not: book them!
And be on the lookout for BIG, SHOCKING THINGS to be happening in 2009!
