Congrats! Whether intentionally or no, you've stumbled across The Stick-Ups' corner of the web-o-sphere. This band came to be as a manifestation of David Luther's love of rhythm and blues around the time it was turning into rock, a time where saxophone was lead guitar, lyrics were truly dirty, and groove was everything. It is our mission to take all the frenetic, sexy, raunchy, irreverent energy of that music and convey it to you in a manner that impels you to jump from your seat and grind your neighbor, a mission that we take very seriously. This ain't some old farts' benign background music. This is the shit that made housewives fear for their teenage daughters' virginity, regularly thrashed crowds into an orgasmic frenzy, and led many folks to a newfound awareness of their hips. And so, if ever we reach a point where we can claim to have effected these results on a wide scale, we shall lie eternally blissful in the lap of ultimate satisfaction.
In order to avoid confusion, the above tunes are in no way written by us. They are respectively (and respectfully) attributed to Fats Domino, Willie Dixon (twice), The Isley Brothers, Henry Glover, and Bull Moose Jackson. The first four appear on our new record (wow!!) and the last two were recorded live at Rockwood Music Hall.
