The Other Russia is a band that has been in the works for what seems like a lifetime. Now after several changes to the line-up and more than one "back to the drawing board" moment, the band is finally ready to rock your face!
The Other Russia is a meld of members all hailing from other established bands: Alex Gillette and Jason Zolman of Denver’s For A Few; Jeff Polly of Tampa Bay's Surly; Everett Wolfe of Denver's Dimmer Switch; and Ben Anderson of Boulder’s Goodnight Republic. With this project, they were looking for a new sound and attitude; combining the power and aggression of 90’s post-hardcore with the driving melodies of today’s punk-rock.
The goal of this group is a “back to basics” approach to song writing with a focus on structure and memorable riffs, as opposed to endless guitar solos and needless breakdowns. Ben and Alex create a driving rhythm section combined with Everett's melodic punk style vocals, all while Jason’s guitar work compliments Jeff’s creative and unforgettable leads. The result is music that sounds fresh and exciting with that memorable quality that always leaves you wanting more! Isn't it nice to know in these days of guys in girls' jeans and kids with Spartan helmet hairdo's there's still a band out there putting substance before fashion?
