   About The Otters
Intense and dramatic no wave punk rock from Welwyn Garden City, featuring Mark Astronaut of semi legendary anarcho punk outfit The Astronauts. People love Otters- they're cute, cuddly and friendly, but The Otters are the antithesis of our cute furry friend. The Otters live gigs are unmissable; a fusion of chaos, violence, dancing, sing-a-long songs, noise, fluffy hair, furious drumming, thumping basslines, shredding guitar riffs, singing, screaming, and raw power. Juxtaposing dark tales of modern day suburbia with real, honest music that refuses to be pigeonholed, The Otters continue to leap from strength to strength, supporting the likes of up and comers such as The Holloways, The Chalets, Stuffy & The Fuses, as well as earlier bands such as P.A.I.N and Clayson & The Argonauts. Dubbed as the ‘anti Orson’ and ‘everything that’s right about music’, The Otters don’t exist to be cool, to get laid, to get drunk, to be famous or to conform to order; The Otters exist to challenge all that. Join in or fuck off.

“The Otters – a weird and surreal bunch of nutters, the singer Mark Astronaut now in his early fifties and writing stronger and deeper material all the time, performs from down stage right leaving the centre stage for Joe bass, Dom guitar and Dennis drums, 3 great musicians who are still teenagers, and are much prettier than Mark! Their performances always pull you into their world with some short catchy tunes in amongst the longer more epic songs that chop and change direction and enthrall the crowd at the same time, very entertaining and totally memorable”. Bob Marden - Club 85

"The Otters are out of their musical trees, anarchic, unpredictable, experimental and downright obtuse. We can only take our hats off to 'em." - FUSE Magazine

"It's noisy, uncompromising and a real reason to get excited about the future of the music industry. The Otters are the anti-thesis to everything around at the moment - the corporate bollocks of the emo rock / punk pop filling Kerrang each week. If more bands got into music because it excited them rather than thinking about sales and celebrity bullshit then the world would be a better place. Thank f**k for The Otters!!!"

The Housewives

Sep 2 2008 9:51 AM

Hello there,

Apologies for spamming, but we've got stuff to sell so we can keep feeding baby that delicious milk he loves...

Oue second single 'Cream' is out now! Order it from Filthy Little Angels right now by visiting www.filthylittleangels.com!

Here's what press people are saying...

"More hooks than a butcher's shop window." Artrocker

"'Cream' is a ramshackle pop riot that could make even a cripple dance, mixing elements of a million different musical genres into one four minute slice of party perfection..." Neon Buzz

"The Housewives are unlike most right now, and certainly leave an indelible impression in your sub-conscious!" Subba-Cultcha

"Strange but utterly compelling..." Manchester Music

That's enough whoring from us. Please buy the record and love it to bits...

Hope you're well, Nick Housewife

UBiKnight presents:

Friday 30th Nov @ Cafe Saki, Rusholme

£5 Doors open @ 9pm – 4am (free after midnight)

A selection of the strangest crop of manc. talent gigging at the moment. Prepare to have your frontal lobes sliced and diced and generally mauled over.

Stray Dog Cafe

Angular riffs and pounding rhythms from the creators of minmal dirt rock. They've played with Youth Movies, Part Chimp, Oxes and Blood Red Shoes. Sci-Fi inspired yelps and working class cynicism in an unadulterated slice of this exciting bands work to date. Last gig with current SDC founder GT the Warlock before he disapears for his paternity leave.

www.myspace.com/straydogcafe

Benway Miasma

Upcoming jazz tinkles from the Manchester melodramatists. Nick Cave's unborn twin sister playing Flaming Lips songs at a Thelonius Monk-tribute/karaoke night in the local valium emporium feeling a bit pissed off having been sacked from the NME for writing too pretentiously...

www.myspace.com/hostdivine

Go Lebanon

Five pairs of eyes adjusting to multicoloured fractals of light in a dimly lit room. Circus punk, Plato doom and Ketamine lounge. Eurovision song contest hopefuls. Inventive swirls of post-rock punctuated by the more extreme tendancies of Miles Davis 'On the Corner' period.

www.myspace.com/golebanon

Monster Island

3 piece 'ecstatic northern doom' merchants. Think early Pavement circa 'slanted and enchanted' mixed with the acerbic and dry wit of Lancastrian post-punks and you're not too far away from the island that we sent the big scary creatures to. Also near Blackburn.

www.myspace.com/monsterislandmusic

with DJs Jakes and Fever (Grand Royal, Area 51, Zulu Nation) playing the best in New Indie, Funk, IDM, Electro, post-Punk & post-Rock from the likes of !!!, Deerhunter, LCD Soundsystem, Deerhoof, Gang of Four, Lee Dorsey etc. after midnight till 4 am.
