The Outer Rim is a band that meshes jazz, funk, rock, and free music to create a sound that is instantly recognizable yet hard to define. The band’s name comes from the fact that many of the fans have said they "are taken to the edge" or "trip" while listening to the music. Every live performance is different from the previous one. You could hear everything from ambient sound-scapes to the hardest grooving tunes. The Outer Rim is an experience. The band is Jeff Curry on bass, Norihiko Hibino on sax and computer, Hakuei Kim on piano and keyboards, and Fujii Nobuaki on drums. Each member possess a unique voice on their instrument and has an impressive resume that showcases their extensive and varied experience. The Outer Rim has built a loyal fan base through constant live performance in Tokyo. Having completed their first recording for Gem Impact Records, it has led to tours of Asia and high profile gigs such as the Tokyo Jazz Circuit, and Toshima Jazz Cruise to name a few.
