The Overkills are a four-piece band hailing from the Northside of Dublin. The band consists of lead singer Ciaran Malone, his brother Niall Malone on guitar, Paul Daly on bass and Damien Creighton on drums and percussion. The band formed in the summer of 2004 and have been arousing much interest within Dublin music circles over the couple of years. To date the band have received substantial airplay on Dublin Citys FM airwaves and have amassed a substantial following both locally and further afield.
The Overkills live performances have been described as “in your face rock, with shimmering vocal melodies shining through thumping drums and intricate Roses/Led Zep inspired guitar riffs” and “the bands raw energy is clearly apparent from their incendiary live show and their sound lends itself well to the festival arena”. Since forming the band have played numerous gigs in Dublin's main music venues as well as some critically acclaimed performances in London.
Currently The Overkills are in the studio writing and recording new music. Under the guidance of manager and “guru” Jay Mistry a string of gigs are planned throughout Ireland and the UK to coincide with a release date in 2009 of new material. Watch this space or contact Jay for more details.
