Not many bands in their early years get nearly as much experience as The Overview hashad. After getting as far as they can in the Tasmanian music scene, with interest from Powderfinger and having supported bands such as Birds of Tokyo, After The Fall and Bluejuice, the guys have made the move to Australia’s music capital, Melbourne.
They were regulars at Tasmania’s premier music venues, such as The Republic Bar & Irish Murphy’s, alongside many appearances at venues such as City Hall, Uni Bar, Saloon Bar & Curly’s Bar.
The group have performed at Tasmania’s Attitude Live festival two years in a row and has had coverage in The Mercury and Sauce magazines, as well as Sea FM, Triple J and Edge Radio. Their track Out Night Effect was a Triple J unearthed feature track and got them a place as a feature artist on The Ultimate Band list.
The Overview's latest EP released to a full house at Republic Bar in 2008 is a compilation of dreams, feelings and raw power. It showcases an artistic integrity alongside its focus on moral issues which The Overview feel strongly about. Recorded at Red Planet Studios under the direction of Stewart Long (Ballpoint, Unleash The Nugget, The Scientist’s of Modern Music) and mastered at Studio’s 301 by Oscar Gaona (The Beautiful Girls, The Hives, Rogue Traders) The Overview's raw talent has finally been captured in CD form. The release is swarming with melody and soundscapes of multi threaded bass lines, ambient delays, tasty chords and harmonies; this EP is the sound of true art, the words of morality and cascading visions of beauty.
The rest of 2009 will bring on a bunch of live shows, some new songs, the beginning of their next EP and hopefully a lot of travelling and music. Hope to see you all soon!
