One big Happy Family! Have you ever seen the movie The Right Stuff? Someone said it reminds them of the bar in that movie where the Test Pilots hang out. The Palms is a place where you test your song out, words with chords, guitar, and an amplifier.
Influences
The Sibleys perform their song Live!, I Don't Smile, in John Bock Film, titled PALMS (behind the scenes)
Sounds Like
"An Old West dive bar, The Palms has a great pool table, an outdoor patio and a local music scene that features the Sibleys..." JULIA CHAPLIN, THE NEW YORK TIMES
"At least 10 miles of Amboy Road blacktop later, the Palms glows like a beacon, an alcohol oasis with a dirt parking lot and a big buffalo... Inside, no one is complaining, musicians or otherwise." Peter Gilstrap, LA Times Magazine
This road leads away from the city. Stop for delicious times. Here you can have a time warp dollar draft. A handcrafted 3.00 burger? You might think you have driven into another era! A good one that hasn't yet begun. Miles of nothing brings you in, and then stroll out to the back patio to the outdoor stage. Twelve miles from town or ten, does it really matter? You're out of town. You have a beer in your hand. There is a band on the stage, it's dark, and it's getting darker. You recognize yourself in the reflection of something shiny.
Thanks for the add, I will be passing through in August and would like to stop by for a few.... I have alot of nice memories at the Palms... keep it up guys.
My upcoming self-produced 7-song EP, "B Sides from B Street" is set to hit shelves June 30th. Come take a listen to a handful of the tracks and see what you think! Influences span the likes of: John Prine, Chris Smither, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Jackie Greene, Josh Ritter, Wilco, Redbird, and other singer/songwriters keeping the craft alive.
I'm booking shows throughout California right now if any other musicians are looking to cobill.
It was a sweet surprise to have you find me. Had a great time and would love to come out again soon! Maybe I could gather some LA friends to come and play? Oooo....and camp.
