The Paper Heart Arts Venue. A downtown Phoenix arts destination catering to visual art, music, dance, theater, spoken word/poetry, performance, video/film and comedy.
Established in the year 2000 as an .. gallery and a means for local, national and international artists to gain exposure and sell work.
In 2001, The Paper Heart took a leap and opened a 2000 sq. ft. space in downtown Phoenix at 5th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Featuring local artists, juice bar and espresso cart (now known as The Trunk Space) it grew
to be a well known location for local talent. One of few to have regular weekly hours and the inclusion of events, (music, poetry, theater, etc.), created consistent traffic and support to local artists. Gaining success over
a 4 year span as an alternative arts venue.
Beginning the year 2004, another move was made to its current location, 750 NW Grand Avenue (corner of Grand Avenue and Polk Street), this 8900 sq. ft. facility has incorporated diverse weekly events, month long gallery
exhibitions and much more. Having 300 sq. ft. of exhibition space, a 1000 sq. ft. artists studio (on the 2nd floor) and a 3000 sq. ft. performance space
including an eclectic mix of unique beers and fine wine.
Thank-you for supporting local arts and artists,
Scott Sanders

The hole in this PaperHeart will bleed forever, proudly, and with extreme tenderness for all you have shared of yourself, and for all the dreams unspoken and yet to be realized, that were nurtured in the presence of Heart Chakra Qui.
Thanks so much for everything you've done for us. You two worked so hard to strengthen the art community in Downtown Phoenix. If it weren't for The Paper Heart; Scandalesque and many other artists would not be where they are today. We appreciate everything you've done for us! We wish you two all the best that life has to offer....thanks for being a great friend and giving us the much needed support to showcase our paisties, g-strings and scandalous talents! The Paper Heart will truely be missed...
Hi Scott and Dawn! It's Phil Dirt. I have ALOT of PHOTOS of the bands that played while I was employed there...if anyone is interested in seeing what I got, IM me.
Thank you for all the love and support you have given to the countless artists that have passed through your doors. You will always be remembered as the "heart" of the Phoenix art scene... Have a Safe and Happy New Year!!
I left a little early last night, without saying goodbye. Guess it was a bit hard to accept the passing of PH. Much good luckto you and and Dawn. The Best is Yet to Come. And yesit was me that took down my BOF plaques!
Scott- Thanks for giving us our formative gigs! I'm sad to see that PH is closing. You gave us a shot when no one else would. Wish we had the chance to play one last time at your place. Good luck, best wishes, and thanks again. TDO
