"For me, this was the high watermark of music released in Houston this year and would put it up against anything released in 2008 outside of the city. Papermoons' New Tales was never far from my CD player. This was an album I picked apart over and over again - stunned at how brilliantly constructed the whole thing is. Album of the year, 2008." -Ramon Medina / Freepress Houston
"The Texas-based duo already has a 7" to their credit, one that I have already expressed acclaim for. New Tales builds on the melancholic pop melodies of that album however, this time around the band has more time to better show their own identity. Papermoons are an unusual enough band that they warrant some genuine excitement." -Ben Conoly / Punknews. org
"Papermoons are helping to define a new direction for Houston indie rock that largely eschews the punk, noise and psychedelic influences that have dominated for the past two decades. They deliver intricate arrangements, attention to detail and an acute sensitivity." -Daniel Mee / Houston Press

Team Science
"In the time since their debut 7” on Team Science Records Papermoons’s skill at writing elegant and emotionally stirring music has grown in leaps and bounds. Their backbone is still mid-tempo indie pop that uses subtle transitions and dreamy vocals to craft hypnotic little crests of songs for the mellower moments in life." -John Bond / Mammoth Press
"This 7" is the debut record by the Houston two piece and with it they have captured my attention, my mind and perhaps even my soul. It's a very rare occasion when a band that plays such soft music gets me to do a double take. I could imagine this album being the musical accompaniment to John Steinbeck's "Travels with Charley", perfectly encapsulating the feeling of experiencing the world." - Chris / Diatribe Inc
A lot can happen in a year, and a lot did happen for the Houston TX duo known as Papermoons. They released their (now critically acclaimed) debut self titled 7" on Team Science Records. Garnering a fair amount of press over the next year from both live reviews and reviews of the 7", they proved their worth as a band. Now, a year after the release of their debut, they present their full length album NEW TALES. The moons offer the same creative song writing and lyrical content that the 7" offered, but with a more full and developed sound. While moving away from their alt/folk roots the band has crafted a deeper more reflective tone in their songs. Sonically and technically the band delivers a top notch record with NEW TALES. Papermoons give us the backdrop to slow and sticky summernights, cold and rainy fall afternoons or even brisk nighttime drives. The band will continue touring in 09 as well as begin work on their sophomore full length.
