Update First of all thank you so much for your continued support and interest in the music. I continue to receive e-mails and comments from some of you wondering when I will perform again in NY and other places so I thought it would be a good time to give an update.
Back in the spring of 2005 we got signed to a small deal with Artemus Records. They where of course interested in the single "you're so beautiful" so after recording a new version of it we where told it would be released that winter, probably in early 2006. Well, by late winter 2006 we found out that Artemus was bought out by the major label Virgin America, the A&R folks working on it replaced, and subsequently, with no interest there any longer we where dropped from the label. It happens very often in this business but we where still pretty down as we had generated a good buzz about it and had been gigging our asses of in NYC. Anyway.......
Spring of 2007. Signed another small deal with Koch/Phantom records. They are of course interested in "you're so beautiful" (again) as the single and I say "sure, we'll give it another shot". At this point I just wanted to get to do a new album and felt very positive about what I was being told. We recorded and mixed it for a delivery date of July 1st, went to NYC to film the video, and Bob's your Uncle. Anyway, long story short, the release time got pushed back and pushed back and, after the label did some independent marketing research we only scored in the "Top 25" and not the "Top 10". So, long story short they won't be releasing it and I float in limbo.
This is largely the reason why the performances had stopped these last couple of years because after doing so many gigs before this and creating that excitement with the fans I felt very strong about having a new disc for people to chew on and put together a new show based on that and the old material. It's all been a let down for me and a real waste of a few years. I have been writing for a new disc and will continue to do so as well as put together and finish some real fine songs co written withShane McConnell and Brian O'Neill.
I will be putting up new songs in their demo version so please don't be to critical about quality. I will also be putting up some free downloads and older things in the meantime. I hope you enjoy!
I have included "First Light of Day" in the player above. I get many requests for it and it is the first and best version of "You're so Beautiful" recorded with the brilliant Paddy A Go-Go. I don't control the master and can't provide it as a download for you. Sorry.
As far as any of the older material recorded with the Pat McGuire Band most of you know you can sometimes find it on CD Baby for purchase. Just search the name.
All the best and hope to see you this year!
Pat
