Influences
Jeremy ~ I was influenced by many different people before I was able to light the way for other artists. Chuck Berry was a major hero of mine at a young age. The rockabilly style of country and blues with a quick bouncy twang caused me to pick up the guitar. As I learned how to play I searched for different artists and came across the guitar styles of Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page from the band Led Zeppelin and obviously Jimi Hendrix. These offered me a wide variety of rock and roll guitar players. I also began to listen to a collection of soul singers like Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and James Brown. These artists sang with such passion and energy picked up during the civil rights movement that I was soon shown that my music would also need this energy. The last part of my musical influence was created by artists such as James Brown, Ozzy Osborne, Alice Cooper and KISS. These artists not only gave people music but a performance. When one would see these singers it was not only about the song anymore but about the way it was delivered. All of these influences created a musical style that I thought would take me to the top of the Rock and Roll charts but my plans changed when I met Jeff Stormer.

Jeff ~ At a young age, I was introduced to the sounds of the gutter by my parents- that sort of hardcore jazz rock pop scene that was blossoming out of the underground club scene in the late 1980s. Huey Lewis and the News's Sports had a huge impact on me. And from there, you know, Tommy Tutone, Asia, Jefferson Starship, all of the greats. But of course, you can only listen to your parent's music for so long. Pretty soon I was rebelling, listening to what they labeled as square's music- Styx, Foreigner, Genesis, Journey, and I found a home in that sort of sound. So I really pushed into that stuff until I kind of burned out, right around '93, '94. After a stint in rehab, I sort of wandered musically for a while until I settled on a sort of middle ground- adult acoustic alt-rock. It just felt right to be making that sound at that time, y'know. The cold war was over, the internet boom not yet at full swing, times were in transition. A 7 year old kid didn't know where to stand, and the AAA-R scene(as we called it in the 'zines) was all about that. And that was great for a while. But eventually I just... I needed some zing. And that meant two words to me- Meat. Loaf. Meat Loaf exclusively carried me through... until about two years ago. Since then, I've been finding the joy in sort of quirky alt-pop-rock like Jonathan Coulton, Ookla the Mok, and Johnny Cash.

About The Paul Frumpton Experience, Featuring Larry
I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)Born in the fall of 2006 in the center of the two-man acoustic comedy rock scene, Columbus, Ohio, the self proclaimed Turner and Hooch of Rock and Roll, The Paul Frumpton Experience Featuring Larry, known more colloquially as Jeff Stormer and Jeremy Hoover, are best described as what happens when comedy, music, caffeine, and improv collide in a chocolaty, peanut buttery explosion of good times. Stormer and Hoover met as students of the Ohio State University and have been performing for scraps of food and hobo nickels ever since. Jeremy and Jeff’s major influences include Bacon, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle’s irreverent banter, David Bowie’s crotch in Labyrinth, and a deep-seated love of go karts. Finally, we feel obliged to mention all the things that are off limits to the comedy Duo- this list includes NOTHING. You can currently catch the duo in the new film Thunderbike Mountain: Chase for Mummie’s Gold, or, if you lean your head out on a cold winter’s night just like this one you might hear them playing their music, drawing in sailors to their deaths…
