Pete Shields*
Pete Shields and Steve ( Villa ) Townsend started co writing in 1989 / 90.
Their first incarnation was called UNKLE WOT and consisted of Pete - Vocals, Villa - Guitar, Dave Drury - Drums, Martyn Brown - Bass and Gaz Bedford - Keys.
After about a year they disbanded and paved the way for their second project THE KING BISCUIT BAND, a more soulful outfit with the legendary Jimmy James ( and the vagabonds ) sons Mario, Dino and Marlon providing the funky backbone of the band.
Pete and Steve then kept the KING BISCUIT thing going but due to the James brothers other committments they drafted in Pete's brother Dave, a top pro bass player, Martin Howells on Keys and the wonderfully colourful Paul Newbury ( R.I.P )on drums.
In around 1995 the boys decided to enlist the help of all the top local players to assist them in their final project THE PEACOCK PAGE - a band of a hundred parts to take Pete and Villa's songs out for one last time.
Thank you DANNY HUGHES, ALAN BRETT, PAUL NEWBURY ( R.I.P ) MARTIN WAUGH, DAVID SHIELDS, MARTYN BROWN, AMERICAN PAUL BRIGGS, IAN ( WAGGY ) WAGSTAFF, GLYNN ( GRIMMER ) DENTON, NEIL HOYLAND, DANNY BOOTH, NEIL KELLOW, DAVE DRURY, BRAD DRURY, DAMON ( MONSKI ) DOWNS, RYAN HOLLEYWELL, SCOTT WALTERS, TOMMY WAUGH, KEVIN BROWN, BEN GANT, STEVE CLARKE, GAZ DOVE-CAIN ( The Doctor ), ANDY FLINT ( R.I.P ), MARK EVANS, WAYNE PROCTOR, MARTIN HOWELLS, CLAIRE HOWELLS, BARRY LEE, MARK HOLMES, MARIO JAMES, DINO JAMES, MARLON JAMES, NICK McDONALD, DANNY VARDY, WILKO, KATH QUINLAN, the beautiful HOLLY ATTERTON ( MONSKI ).............................
The PEACOCK PAGE have been inactive for some years now, merely playing the odd gig by request but they are planning to come out of retirement.
Pete and Villa have been talking about a reformation and are presently discussing a mini revival in 2008 - Watch this space !!
