Després de 3 anys de vida, i de nombrosos canvis al grup, la també coneguda com “JH CREW”, ha aconseguit fer-se un lloc, en l’escena jamaicana de Catalunya, com a banda jove de futur... ..Set mesos després d’haver entrat a l’estudi, la banda treu al mercat el seu primer treball en format de CD i de 10’’, que servirà com a vertadera i justa carta de presentació del la banda. Titulat “ARTIC JAMBOREE”, fent joc amb la inexistència actual de pingüins al Pol Nord, el treball consta de 6 temes propis, amb força personalitat, que agradin o no, no deixaran indiferent a la gent. Cal destacar la qualitat sonora de la gravació, com també el fet que la mescla del CD ha estat duta a terme R. Sánchez, un dels productors de reggae espanyol més importants... ..Els seus referents i influències són el Ska de Eric Morris, Derrick Morgan, Skatalites o Prince Buster, sense oblidar el reggae de The Piooners, Desmond Dekker, Toots & The Maytals o the Crystalites. Cal mencionar, també, la importància que ha suposat, sobretot pels membres més joves del grup, la referència de grups actuals catalans com Soweto o The Cabrians. El seu repertori es basa en temes propis, completats amb versions de clàssics del Ska, coneguts per tothom, com: “You Are the One I Need”, “Puss in Bag” o “Latin Goes to Ska”... ..Han tingut la oportunitat de compartir escenari amb el jamaicà Dave Barker, The Toasters, els canadencs One Night Band, així com molts dels altres grup puntals de l’escena jamaicana de la Península com: Ranking Soldiers, Soweto, The Cabrians, Hermano L, Morodo, Kinky Coo Coo’s, Familia Torelli, Los Retrovisores, Thorpedians..... ..Finalment, destacar dos de les característiques més importants de The Penguins:.. 1- El seu directe. Una autèntica festa. 11 persones dalt d’un escenari, a ritme de molinillo, intentant transmetre el públic el que ells senten al fer allò que més els hi agrada... 2- La barreja d’edats de la banda, des dels 16 anys fins als 31, demostrant així que el Ska uneix generacions... .. ..The Penguins nace en Sant Feliu de Llobregat en marzo del 2006, a partir de un combo musical de la Escuela de música, donde estudian parte de sus miembros. Tras 3 años de vida, y de numerosos cambios en el grupo, también conocida como “JH CREW”, ha conseguido hacerse un lugar, en la escena jamaicana de Cataluña, como banda joven de futuro... ..Siete meses después de haber entrado al estudio, la banda lanza al mercado su primer trabajo en formato de CD y de 10'', que servirá como verdadera y justa carta de presentación de la banda. Titulado “ARTIC JAMBOREE”, haciendo juego con la inexistencia actual de pingüinos en el Polo Norte, el trabajo consta de 6 temas propios, con bastante personalidad, que gusten o no, no dejarán indiferente a la gente. Cabe destacar la calidad sonora de la grabación, así como el hecho de que la mezcla del CD ha sido llevada a cabo R. Sánchez, uno de los productores de reggae español más importantes... ..Sus referentes e influencias son el Ska de Eric Morris, Derrick Morgan, Skatalites o Prince Buster, sin olvidar el reggae de The Piooners, Desmond Dekker, Toots & The Maytals o el Crystalites. Una auténtica fiesta. 11 personas sobre un escenario, a ritmo de molinillo, intentando transmitir al público lo que ellos sienten al hacer lo que más les gusta... 2 - La mezcla de edades de la banda, desde los 16 años hasta los 31, demostrando así que el Ska une generaciones... .. ..The Penguins began life in Sant Feliu de Llobregat in March 2006, out of a combo band formed in the local music school, where some of their members study. After 3 years of activity and numerous changes, the band - also known as “JH CREW” - has managed to earn a place in the Catalan Jamaican scene as a young band with interesting present and a promising future... ..Seven months after stepping into the recording studio, the band has released its first album, in both CD and 10” format, which is meant to serve as the band’s fair and true introduction letter. The album is titled “ARTIC JAMBOREE”, a pun on the current non-existent penguin population in the North Pole, and features 6 self-composed songs with lots of attitude, which, liked or not, will leave no one indifferent. One must highlight the outstanding sound quality of the recording, as well as the CD mixing, which has been carried out by R. Sánchez, one of the most important Spanish reggae producers... ..Their music is strongly influenced by the Ska played by Eric Morris, Derrick Morgan, Skatalites of Prince Buster, along with the reggae style of The Piooners, Desmond Dekker, Toots & The Maytals and the Crystalites. It is also worth mentioning how important current Catalan bands like Soweto or The Cabrians have been for the younger members of the band. Their repertoire is based on self-composed songs, rounded out with widely-known classic Ska covers, such as: “You Are the One I Need”, “Puss in Bag” or “Latin Goes to Ska”... ..They have had the chance to share the stage with the Jamaican singer Dave Barker, The Toasters and the One Night Band from Canada, among many of the other main bands from the peninsular Jamaican scene, such as: Ranking Soldiers, Soweto, The Cabrians, Hermano L, Morodo, Kinky Coo Coo’s, Familia Torelli, Los Retrovisores, Thorpedians..... ..Two of the most important characteristics of The Penguins are:.. 1 – Their live performance.
