The music world has lost a giant. While that headline has been written countless times, the passing of Les Paul is the passing of a man who created much of the modern sound of music. The solid body guitar, multi-track recording and much more. He held a large number of patents for inventions that today's recording artists take for granted.
Here is a great video of Les and his wife, Mary Ford on CBS playing/recording one of their big hits "How High The Moon".
Vaya Con Dios, Les Paul and give our best to Mary when you see her.
Contemporary Standards! More and more people of all ages are discovering the timeless music of "The Great American Songbook" as sung by an ever-increasing list of modern artists. Michael Buble, Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall, Ann Hampton Callaway, Tamela D'Amico, Jamie Cullum, Peter Cincotti, Bobby Caldwell, Steve Tyrell and others. Even better, many of these performers are reworking some of their favorites songs and even adding original compositions to the mix.
The Penthouse Radio takes the large group of "rising stars" and adds in the classic artists that first made these songs - names like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan and Bobby Darin. We play some of the great lounge and instrumental music from artists like Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Walter Wanderly and Henry Mancini, too. Why? Because it's cool!
There's Always A Party On The Penthouse! Come on up for timeless music...all the time!
