Peoples Republic of Mercia are a 4 piece rock'n'roll combo from the Second City that have been together since 2004. PRoM have so far produced 2 albums, "Dadpunk" which was released in 2005, and the recent "Telecastered" which was launched at The Roadhouse gig in Birmingham on 4th August 2007. There have also been 2 singles "Cult Of Celebrity" which came out in 2005 on the Chromium Records label, and in 2006 "Warts'n'All, a self produced effort by the band.
Very much a live band, PRoM have progressed from minor local venues to supporting major acts at some of the best music clubs in the Midlands (Cox's Yard, The Robin 2, The Roadhouse, The Marrs Barr, The Little Civic, and The Mill), there's also been London gigs, most recently supporting Eddie and the Hot Rods at The Half Moon in Putney, and a trip to the home of pub rock, Southend, again as support to The Rods. 2008 has also seen PRoM gig with The Pirates, The Groundhogs, Man, and Wilko Johnson.
For the rest of 2008 there's more gigs coming up with Wilko, and The Hot Rods, and a new single due out in July featuring current live favourite "The Guard". The band are also setting up their own label "Offa Discs" which will be the vehicle for all future releases.
