  • Bio

..five piece band from the wilds of Essex, delivers a unique brand of pop rock with melodic guitar solos, orgasmic four part vocals, mind blowing keyboards, and with a drummer that can only be described as superb! These guys deliver musicianship expected from players much older than their tender years! The main song writer Ryan Stanton draws a heavy influence from the likes of Keane, The Kooks, Scouting for girls, Muse, The Beatles,, Kevin Montgomery and The Feeling! The boys have had an amazing ride these past three years! Highlights include t v on Fox 7 Austin Texas, and Fearless t v, in New York! They have played the world famous Americana festival two years running, and the I P O international pop overthrow festival four times! Twice at The Cavern, Liverpool, once in New York and also this year London. The guys have built up a loyal fan base not only the UK, but also in Belgium and France where they play as often as they can! The Peppermint Apes were approached by independent film maker Sadie Kaye in 2010 to provide three songs for her fantastic documentary "SAILING MISS SADIE" On the back of this success Sadie asked Ryan to write a song for her film "TUCKERS LUCK" And the guys were honored to be filmed with Sadie performing the track in their very own studios. The track, "BE MY FRIEND" has been put forward with possible inclusion for the "ROCK BAND" electronic game for all console's They continue to have radio play the world over! In April 2010 the guys were asked to perform unplugged for Janice Long on BBC radio 2 2011 has been a roller coaster year……………… for THE PEPPERMINT APES! The year started with the normal round of band nights and gigs, and the recording of our music videos Hard To Love You and Be My Friend, both at Penkat Studios in Milton Keynes. One of the most memorable gigs from the early part of the year was our charity night at The Bull, Basildon in aid of SCOPE which was very well attended and we raised a fair amount of money for this worthwhile cause. We played, once again on the main stage of The Americana festival in Nottingham, UK in July and soon after changed from a 4 piece to a 5 piece band, saying goodbye to our drummer & guitarist, and saying hello to a new drummer, guitarist and a keyboard player! Deciding that during 2011 we would like to 'take it easy' as far as the new lineup was concerned, in order for us to gel and really bond as a band - it's the best vibe its ever been now and we want to thank our Manager, Colin Stanton for allowing us this period to get to know each other! We recorded and released a new 4 track EP in November, self titled, with 2 brand new tracks and 2 tracks that have been revisited from our original album, Against The Wall. The EP received acclaim from industry professionals and the public alike, being played on BBC Radio Essex, several radio stations in Northern Ireland and even in Nashville and New York! In December we completed our new music videos, Secrets Out, and the yet to be released All She Needs, and again have received good feedback for the production on Secrets Out, and the song December proved to be quite a busy month as we flew to Northern Ireland to appear on TV with Sean Green and his Irish Connection Show. On the TV show we launched our two music videos SECRETS OUT (link above) and ALL SHE NEEDS (due for release early Jan 2012). The new EP was also being played on Sean's radio shows TCR and CMR Nashville, and we were honored to win a 'listeners poll' award, presented to us by Kathleen Barclay, co-presenter & producer of the radio shows. The presentation of the award from The Irish Connection was made during our gig at Le Grain de Folie, in Fauquemburges, France where we went to play our now annual Christmas Party gig. Playing to a packed venue (you seriously could not have fitted anyone else in!) we also gave an interview to the local newspaper! The gig was a total blast! On the back of this we have been asked to headline a festival in the area in July 2012. Our first gig of 2012 kicks off in our hometown of Basildon, and we have a busy and hectic year ahead of us but we are all ready for it - so bring it on and lets rock into 2012! 2012 has been amazing so far. We progressed through the rounds of the UK Live & Unsigned competition, competing with over 10,000 bands we made it through to the final round at the London 02. On the back of this success we have also been offered OsFest, Brownstock, Cazfest and several other fabby festivals - so please do come and see us at one of them! • Sounds Like

Well like all bands trying to make a name for themselves, The Peppermint Apes sound a bit like The Peppermint Apes!.. The Peppermint Apes started out in August 2008 as Ryan Stanton put together an acoustic set of songs as support for the fantastic Marc Bolan Tribute TooREX, at the Towngate Theatre in Basildon.Ryan Stanton, asked a few of his close friends to help him put the show together. They only had two weeks notice to rehearse up a cool set for the gig of their musical young lives.Following the positive response they received on the back of the show, the next logical step was to go the next chapter and officially form the band... www.thepeppermintapes.co.uk
