  • Bio

Formed in the late 1980’s and known as the “Ramones of the lounge circuit,” The Permtones, comprised of Anthony (“Tony”) Tone (piano and happy home organ), Herbert (“Herb”) Tone (bass guitar), and Lou (“Lou”) Tone (drums), all hail from New York City where they developed their soul-filled, off-the-wall, light jazz, instrumental sound outside of old Greenwich Village jazz clubs, in smelly bowling alley lounges, and in seedy dives such as the now deceased Russell Hotel. Formerly influenced by punk and skid rock, The Permtones became disillusioned by the hard rock and roll lifestyle, and in a mystical state of religious euphoria discovered the soothing, magical powers of Burt Bacharach, Holiday Inns, shag carpet, lava lamps, wet willies, and dry martinis. This three-piece act’s unique lounge show prominently features the music of Burt Bacharach and other light jazz standards throughout their sets; however, they also have a penchant for converting even the grungiest, hard rock song into a smooth, musical, martini sipping delight.
