| About The Pettyfords |

The Pettyfords were formed in the summer of 1996 by Roy Murakami, Cavan Nohara and Jeremy Rhode. Three bored high school kids with a passion for the same thing: Pop punk music. Countless hours were spent in drummer, Roy Murakami's, living room trying to fine tune some songs before the school year began. Lucky for the Pettyfords, Roy's parents were kind enough to let them practice there just as long as we cleaned the place up after we were finished.
The band started out playing Screeching Weasel and Scared Of Chaka covers before diving into the depths of "ORIGINAL MUSIC". The guys really felt they were onto something as the school year approached. That year, they played at Pearl City High School assemblies and talent shows before finally graduating in the summer of 1997.
That summer, 1 year after forming, the Pettyfords started to play local punk rock shows in and around Honolulu as a 3 piece before meeting Derek Watkins, a stylish young lad. Derek would join the band as the second guitarist and vocalist. He was into the same type of bands as the rest of the band and it was a perfect fit.
The guys had the priveledge of sharing the same stage with some great local bands like Unit 101, Grapefruit, National Product, Buckshot Shorty, and the Cartmans while also opening for mainland bands like Sicko, Scared Of Chaka, Homegrown, and others.
The band officially broke up in 2001 due to lack of time and other life interests. Rumor has it that Roy is in San Fransisco, probably still murdering the drums. Cavan is still in Hawaii, looking as handsome as ever. Derek joined the Air Force, served 4 years and came back to Hawaii.....a married man (good job, buddy!). As for me, I joined the Air Force, served my time and came back to Hawaii.....a married man too!
We had fun as the Pettyfords. We recorded 2 7"s and a full-length cd. Visit Whoaohrecords.com to check them out. Thank you to everyone who ever came out to our shows, bought our albums, created this site (tit) and came up to us and said hello. We owe you for years of fun.
