How I made my profile: I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace editor.Good music isn’t made over night and great bands aren’t formed in the bowels of a focus group. A shiny faux finish and trendy emo haircut are no replacement for chemistry and hard work. That’s the stance of ‘The Pilots,’ a Midwest born and bread rock group forged in the local rock scene. The Pilots have been around for a while and grew up as musicians with some of Nebraska’s great rock bands. They could tell tales of after hour’s parties with Blue Moon Ghetto or of hanging out with Lifehouse on the tour bus before a show. But talk is cheap and the guys from The Pilots would rather let their live performance speak for itself. With the first listen to The Pilots, there is a palpable sense of being at a live show, which bleeds through on each track. And don’t let the attention to detail and refinements of the music mislead you, The Pilots is no studio band that will let you down at their live show. The Pilots learned how to play on stage and developed a style tailor made for the live show. A humble beginning start found them crammed in the corner of local smoke filled bars and built to sharing the stage with acts like Lifehouse, Vertical Horizon, Smash Mouth, and Vanilla Ice. Years of playing to tough crowds and big stages have defined their style and polished their live show. The Pilots is comprised of band members formerly of Polyesther, Everywhere, Gladstone, and Vintage. Lead Singer Brandon Duggins along with his brother, Johnny Duggins on Lead Guitar; bring a unique chemistry to the band. Todd Mahin who brings his own style and edge after playing a short stint in the Omaha hard rock scene and will tell you it’s been an interesting tale. The guys from The Pilots are no strangers to success in the music industry having played with the afore mentioned bands and having their original music played on MTV and VH1 series like Pimp My Ride and Breaking Bonaduce. All that said the past is the past and The Pilots isn’t content living off the buzz of past accomplishments. After being apart for few years the band is rejuvenated, refocused, and excited about the new direction as well as the chance to be apart of a burgeoning Omaha Music scene. Rhythm Guitarist Casey Illian will tell you the approach we took on this new project. "Lets go back to our roots and give it the feel of the very first song we wrote 12 years ago. But instead of settling for the first idea and staying with it, lets explore different melodies, song structure, and challenge the basic idea without compromising the overall feel of the song. What we have come up with is a more thought out plan where every note has a purpose, but still throws off the fun and innocent rock vibe we have always taken pride in.
