Proclaimed by some as the world's most under rated band. These lively North West punks started up two decades ago in 1988, then with a lineup of. Keith Halliday on bass, his brother Craig (former One Way System, Flapshots and now of Sick 56 fame) on lead vocals and guitar, Guy Woodhall on second guitar and Mark Booth on drums. They played for a few years, playing mainly covers (getting banned from most venues they played) before Craig left in the early 90s to be replaced by Duncan Jowett (Uncle Fester). It was this lineup that reportedly upstaged commercial rock band Reef and played in the French Alps. Both Guy and Duncan left the band soon after the gig in France leaving Mark and Keith who struggled to find permanent replacements. With the band thinking of splitting up Steve Fairhurst (Flapshots) joined originally just to play support to UK Subs at The Tache nightclub in Blackpool during the 1996 Holidays In The Sun. He ended up remaining in the band, helping to write new material and the band self released their only studio album, 'Womb Raider' in 1998. ukNige who has sung for One Way System then joined in June 1999 to make the band a four piece again but left along with founding member Mark Booth in August 2001 to form Sick 56. Tommy Couch of One Way System then took up drumming duties, Guy rejoined the band but has since parted company once again. Two appearances at continental festivals occurred in the first decade of 2000 as well as being a regular feature at Rebellion in Blackpool before some members relocated to Cornwall. The band was last seen playing a three date mini tour in June of 2009 and are next due to play back-to-back dates in Cornwall from November the 27th-28th. (More songs are available on http://www.reverbnation.com/thepinktorpedoes interestingly tracks from their live album, 'Torpedoes Away' are here also)
