We also enjoy...
Videogames...we've all been raised on Nintendo, be that SNES, N64, Gamecube, Gameboy etc, zelda, mario, donkey kong, resident evil, weird kitsch "scene" games, Izzy is in love with RPGs and Alex is quite partial to zombie games. We have some pretty violent band games on Mario Kart. Stupid films, pretentious films, tacky 80s horror films and on TV I think we all enjoy Scrubs, Family Guy and other larks such as that. Half the band enjoy cigarettes. Half drink tea. Half are ginger, half are blonde. Greg is the gingerest. Odds are we don't like you the reader, and have written a song about it, theres so many unsuspecting victims.
Sounds Like
What do we sound like?
What do you sound like?
Pretentious, harsh, but with a creamy yolk of melodies that go nowhere and anger you. You get?
Next live venture-10th September-Tap 'n Tin, Chatham w/ So So Modern & Zeroes
We recently passed our first anniversary as a band, that big first year mark, and I for one, along with many others did not celebrate this event. This last year has been great fun, we've played some fantastic bands along the way since playing our first gig a good 14 months with Kill Keneda, since then we've shared stages with wicked bands such as Ladyfuzz, Help She Can't Swim, Joeyfat, 586, Dartz!, Some Body and Go Faster! along with that lovely bunch we call local bands. We've released some despised home demo(n)s but recently we've learnt the error of our ways and are no longer doing the SSLYBY thing and recording songs at home, we've started using that oh so glamourised contraption, the recording studio. We've pretty much spent most of our time over the last year of practices eating, drinking, playing video games and watching tv. However there was recently an enjoyable game of band tennis. We're working far harder recently to bring you the consumer, music of a questionnable quality that is still just enjoyable enough for us to feel like we did good out there tonight. Whos to say what the future will bring with even more studio recordings to come soon, and a fantastic array of gigs to be announced when the time is right, and ofcourse the always potent secret weapon that is Murray HotNewBands the III. We're trying to do something a bit original mixing some good old fashion nosie rock/post hardcore guitar sound to beats that would make the new york dance elite proud with some distinctively british vocals and perhaps a tiny sprinkle of fashionability in there somewhere too, quite possibly in Joe's hair. Yes once again I'm a pretentious wanker, I take myself too seriously and write horrendously long bios such as this beauty here, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Alex.

"This stunning new band who sound like the beesknees of Sonic Youth. This excellent female fronted band have been snapped up by Win Win Win records and have attracted the tastebuds of Unlabel!"-Seb of Collides In Arc fame
"Another cracking new band to come from the thriving Tunbridge Wells Music scene, Pins are set to cause a shitstorm. Having been snapped up by Win!Win!Win! and Unlabel the band have already played with an impressive array of musical talent. Joeyfat, Kill Kenada, Help She Can't Swim, 586, Dartz! and Ladyfuzz have all shared the stage with the Kent youngsters and all have been impressed by their brand of alternative/post-punk/experimental noise rock.
Likened to Sonic Youth, Test-Icicles, and Be Your Own Pet, with the incredible guitaring talents of Alex Cull, and the pummelling synth of Greg Salmon, The Pins live show is one not to miss. Check them out, and monitor their release plans."
Two reviews from BackBeatBands magazine:
1. Hot new bands night w/New Homes, HPR + Air-Horny
"Pins are another group of these maverick youngsters, but they've put a different spin on things: when they launch into their first tune tonight: their tight, charged take on ‘Dancing on Pegs' is probably the first and last time anything by Test Icicles could sound ace. Backed by lightning fast drums, this is alt pop with attitude. Izzy is countered by Alex's male vocals, making a brilliant boy/girl combination: their relationship onstage is filled with a sense of manic fun, adding depth and strength to the performance. Incidentally, it's also more enjoyable than watching monkeys do the Riverdance. The immaturely named but fabulously performed ‘Welcome to MyAnus' is involving, tense electro post-punk with nods to Sonic Youth's best bits, while a cover of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' ‘Date With The Night' is an exhilarating, hypercharged strut with meaty riffs and a raw punk snarl, but the biggest crowd-pleaser is their own ‘Dancing in Helicopters', a piece of frenzied dance-along electro perfection bombarded with metal riffs, giving us a glimpse of the great things yet to come from the band."
2.BBB Night w/586, Tom Williams + Letters From London
"Pins were next on stage, bringing their trademark electrifying stage presence with them. Sprawling and spitting through opener 'Dancing On Pegs', singer Alex growled and stamped like a rhino on speed (scary, eh?). Throughout the set drums were neat, quick and downright dancetastic, while pounding synth and bass made our limbs twitch involuntarily – these kids got RIDDIM. As always, the tension and onstage chemistry between singer and guitarist was thrilling to watch, seen at its best during "Theme", an immature, post punk art rock party featuring the immortal line "Dancing in helicopters!", upon which most of the audience started waving their arms, a la helicopter blade, in unison. Loving it. Some promising new tunes were showcased, and the old covers, like their unique, steroid pumped versions of Sonic Youth's 'Purr' and Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Date With The Night', went down pretty well."
