Sounds Like4 dudes drinking your beer and dancing in your living room while you try to sleep because you have to wake up early tomorrow for work or school

The Plastic Constellations -- "We Appreciate You" To Be Released April 15th

"We Appreciate You" Release Party at the First Avenue Mainroom in Minneapolis on April 19th! The last TPC show before an indefinite hiatus.

With twelve years, four albums (& one EP), a dozen tours, two vans, several hundred shows and an endless collection of warm cans of domestic beer under their collective belt, The Plastic Constellations (TPC) have done a lot in their years together. And now as the members approach the ripe old ages of 26, they’re releasing an ambitious new album that marks a new era for the band.

TPC started playing together in 1995 as rambunctious 14-year-old best friends. After playing their first show at 15, starting high school and growing several inches a piece, TPC officially began storming the Midwest club scene in 1999, borrowing their parents’ mini-vans for a variety of tours of venues they weren’t old enough to drink in.

After a four year break for college and travel, TPC released the critically acclaimed Mazatlan (2024 Records) in 2004 which received Pitchfork’s Best New Music designation. They then made the jump to the national stage with 2006’s Crusades, a complex and epic album for New York’s respected Frenchkiss Records. The band was on the road for most of 2006, sharing the stage across North America with the likes of The Hold Steady, The Gossip, Thunderbirds are Now, Swearing at Motorists and many more.

Now the next phase begins with the release of We Appreciate You on April 15, 2008, again on Frenchkiss Records. While the album retains the exuberance, energy and passion of all that TPC stands for, it finds the band exploring a new sound, more melodic and diverse than ever before. From the powerful group melodies of the album-opener “Stay That Way” to the rhythmic sing-along “Perched on a Porch” (featuring Dessa from Doomtree on vocals) to the ambitious and hopeful album-closer “So Many Friends,” We Appreciate You is the varied manifesto of long-time pals who’ve seen the world together—a celebration of youth and friendship.

Through all the years, the band remains closer than ever—finishing each other’s sentences, sharing the same warped sense of humor, and drinking beers in each other’s backyards with unhealthy frequency. With no touring planned for the record beyond a trip to the SXSW festival in March, and an indefinite hiatus on the horizon, We Appreciate You is a statement. It’s an exclamation mark that may note the end of a long and exciting ride.

A few nice things people have said:

"We Appreciate You" might just be the most inclusive rock record ever written.
James Montgomery, MTV.com
I went home a believer. Their nervy post-punk came into its full careening force in the live setting, and their giddy enthusiasm-- they jumped, kicked, sweated, mugged for each other, and altogether fairly vibrated-- marked them as a band that’s at a turning point and loving it, fully inhabiting its moment.
Pitchfork Media
The Plastic Constellations have been at it for a solid decade, and it shows: Musicianship this appealing often takes years to to dial in and maintain.
Alternative Press
Sending the intensity of Les Savy Fav through a wringer of unshakable pop melodies that boast unexpected twists and shouts, The Plastic Constellations nail their bludgeoning, super-anthemic rock choruses with an energy infectious enough to directly affect your blood flow.
Pitchfork Media
In sneakers, jeans and T-shirts, look like about the least likely guys to light up a venue and burn it down quicker than the Human Torch, but thats just what theyve done every single time Ive seen them.
Pulse of the Twin Cities
These child prodigies formed ten years ago at the age of 14, played their first show as the handpicked openers for Low at 15, and were voted the best new band in Minnesota by their hometown alt weekly at 19. At this rate, they’ll be huge when they’re really old -- say, 27.
Spin
They have come to save the horrendous state of indie rock, all you have to do is sit back and soak it all in (just make sure you have some beer back at your place).
Indie Workshop
Considering their relative youth against their apparent talent, if these guys continue to have fun and like each other they will grow into a formidable force. The kind of band a more bloated major-manicured act fears in the opening slot of a show TPC would blow them away as easily as target practice on a beached whale.

Unbelieveable! That show will go down in my books for sure as the most dragon-slayingest, nine-sided-diceyest, quasi-medival, black-plagueiest, appreciateiest(sic) time I have had in this, our fair city. Fist Pumps, indeed, and big thanks for making duece cities a great place to live. And BTW you win the trophy for your ratio of longevity to awesomeness. As a kid who grew up on the N. side of 394, i concede victory to the South.

Nothing could have been cooler when you threw all those cutout swords, shields and axes to the crowd. I ended up with a +2 Dagger of Enchantment. Thanks guys for wrecking the joint each and every time for the past 13 years. We appreciate you.
