The Playfellow band was established in May 2004. The founder as well as the permanent member of the band is Ivan Borovkov. The initial composition of the group counted six people who were united by one idea and love towards the music of Funk and Breakbeat.
The main generator of all musical ideas and the composer of all tracks of the band is no other than Ivan Borovkov. Throughout the long period of time, the fellows were investing a great amount of time and effort towards the development of their new musical project, they were spending a lot of time in their home studio searching for interesting and new sounds for it is essential to have your own distinct personality when it comes to music.
As the days went by, half a year have passed since the date of the establishment, in December of 2005, the first show of the Playfellow took place. The Playfellow were invited to play at one of the parties at the legendary club in the northern part of Belarus – P&R ( Piranhas & Revolvers), along with a DJ 33, who consequently becomes the finalist of DMC 2008 soon after that night. During the party, they have played ten tracks of their own composition. After the debut, guys received a mass of positive reactions about their work and music. Important to note that in 2005, the band members were still youngsters and were only starting to form their music and their own identity. Nonetheless, already after the premier, due to the strong self-expression and energetic vibe that they were projecting through their performance, the “wise men” of the club life were predicting a great future for the Playfellow. The success of the first performance, without a doubt, particularly belonged to Ivan Borovkov since he was the creator of all of the ten tracks that were presented during that night at the P&R.
In April 2007, their work started to pay off. On the Russian label chart StepSine, the first track of The Playfellow – “Tempting Mushroom” was released; this track was part of the track collection by the name of “First Step” which was then successfully sold worldwide.
Soon after the first release, an artistic crisis took over the band and as a result, Ivan Borovkov started to develop The Playfellow by himself.
In June 2007, a new epoch has begun in the history of The Playfellow. Ivan Borovkov was joined by a talented musician and promoter, Mike Kanash and thanks to that The Playfellow started, slowly but surely getting back on track after the long and silent recession. Mike started his search for the new labels and session vocalists for the new tracks, while Ivan, just like before, continued on with the musical creation aspect of the band. Eventually, they came up with the live duet with hard on electronic sound.
After a short pause, starting from the fall of 2008, The Playfellow had signed the contracts for the releases of their tracks with Composure Records (UK), Digital Vagabond (UK), Bass Reflections (USA) as well as their former live shows were back in action and were accommodated by the all known world stars of the Break stage like The Magnet Men, The Equalizers and Lady Waks.
In the spring of 2009, the band signs an exclusive contract with the Rocstar Recordings, the owner of the studio is no other than the famous British DJ and producer Cut La Roc (Skint Recordings). Where in the future, their first album would be released and then distributed by the Universal Music.
In the year 2009 The Playfellow were invited and had a cool gig at the Kazantip festival together with LADY WAKS (SPB), CTRL-Z (LONDON), ATOMIC HOOLIGAN (LONDON), MARS (KALININGRAD)
On the 5th of October 2009, The Prodigy band while being on their world tour in support of their new album “Invaders Must Die", performed in front of a thousands of audiences at the Dynamo stadium in Minsk. The band known as The Playfellow were performing on the same stage as a “heat up” team.
As of today, the fellows are face to face with fresh ideas and new beats.
The band cooperates with musicians and vocalists from all over the world looking for unique and unexpected sounds. Still growing and rocking like never before.
Even christmastime couldn't stop Rockethead from mixing some crazy stuff together. So here's the December mix, for a little more noise during the holidays ;)

Review: "Don Goliath's "Bagstep EP" (DDR030) is one of those innovative EPs showcasing how versatile Dubstep can get. The unique idea of creating Dubstep versions of celctic (Irish as well as Scottish) folk classics for all you drunkards longing to sing along was Don Goliath's motto when producing this madness. The concept is as simple as effective: he picked 4 of your grandpa's favourites such as "Old Skibbereen", "Scotland the Brave", "Drunken Sailor" and "Amazing Grace" having the melody played by a definitly non-sober Bagpipe section and then layering it with lofi mid range wobbleism - we therefor call it Bagstep. Overall production quality is high grade with that intense sub focus so you can blow-dry your hair right in front of the bass bins. Now let's get into the tunes: "Skibbereen Bagstep" is one of the melancolic minor tunes expressing Irish history as it is. It is an unmixable 3/4 waltz beat at unusual 154bpm, well dancebal though when one moves to the triplets. "Bagstep the brave" should be one of the sickest rebuilds of the Scottish national anthem making it Mel Gibson's signature tune if he had one. "Drunken Bagstep" is a Glitchfest version of the sailors anthem capable of getting you uberdrunk by listening alone, Arrrr! "Amazing Bagstep" is as religious as it gets making it a tune that'll certainly safe xamounts of lost souls. Enjoying the dancefloor got even easier now: drink out the bar, make your skirt fly and sing along to these (future) classics! Some will hate this release and some will love it, there barely is anything in between. All Dubstep Division crew salutes the latter as our fellow beerheadz! cheeeeeerz!"
