"Bring Me A Match" is a time warp from the days before autotune ... There's not a single bad song on here ... if this had been released thirty years ago, an entire subculture would now regard it as a cult classic
- Lucid Culture

Lydiot's vocals-how she can simultaneously channel great female pop divas of the past like Martha Davis of the Motels, Jill Kossoris of the Shivvers or even Debbie Harry without making it sound rehashed is what makes this stand out ... this is a winner all around
- DiSCORDER

This is absolutely pure power pop goodness, complete with sticky sweet female vocals. This is what heaven is like, I am sure of it
- Maximum Rock N Roll

new wave pop (more timeless than retro) with amazing vocals by the lovely Lydiot that make The Motels sound like The Fleabag Motels and Nikki Corvette sound like Nikki Pinto!
- Roctober

It seems I've discovered my favorite new band ... a must-have record for anyone who loves powerpop ... a la Josie Cotton circa Convertible Music ... Both songs are fantastic
- Now Wave

There's that something going on here that would've had Rodney on the Roq playing this on the radio for weeks on end back in his early 80's heyday
- Smashin' Transistors

This is pop music at its finest ... pure of heart, getting stuck in your brain ... a refreshing alternative to the crowded and muddled music of the current American underground ... A definite must
- Seven Ten Twelve

you can't deny that this one is a hit ... Nikki Corvette-y ... All you neo-power-popsters out there should dig this
- Terminal Boredom

either tune here conceivably being a minor hit back when power pop wasn't retro
- Razorcake

you're attracted to the sheer fun of this power punk pop but there's something dangerous there of course, lurking under the surface
- Seven Inches

Anyone who spends their days celebrating Blondie and their nights mourning the decline of Joan Jett, take heart
- Statesman Journal (Salem, OR)

taut songs cracking and humming like a very live wire, with sparks flying everywhere. Their frontwoman Lydiot isn't doing Joan Jett or Debbie Harry or anyone for that matter—she's doing Lydiot, plain and simple
- Portland Mercury

The Pleasure Kills won my Best of Show tonight ... rollicking hi-energy powerpop stick-in-your-head melodies & fun fun fun performance of the style that few bands play anymore
- Wig Wam Bam

Like Blondie, The Go-Go's and Joan Jett ... The Pleasure Kills deliver a pop-perfect combination of bubblegum hooks and punk grit
- Oklahoma Gazette

Welcome to our myspace page! We're from San Francisco, and, depending on who you ask, we're a powerpop, punk, or indie rock band.

You can get in touch with us at thepleasurekills@gmail.com

We've been having a fun time in 2011! We played the Noise Pop festival in San Francisco in February, and went up to Seattle and Portland in April. We played with The Undertones in Oakland, The Dwarves in SF, and we'll be playing with Shonen Knife in SF in November!

2010 was an excellent year! We released the Bring Me A Match album on both LP and CD, and we went on a full national tour in July and August. We were on the road for almost 6 weeks and drove 11,500 miles. Whoa! Thanks to everyone who came to see us and all the cool bands that played with us. We especially enjoyed playing live on WFMU and the four East Coast shows with The Avengers!

In 2009, we released the Dancing On My Bed b/w Touch Too Much CDR single and hit the road for a national tour in June and July (9700 miles!) with our friend Kepi Ghoulie. We got to play in big places like NYC, Boston, Chicago, and Austin, and not-so-big, but just-as-awesome places like Oxford, MS. And we had a great time playing Insubordination Fest in Baltimore! We also went up to Portland to play the Slabtown Bender festival for a second time. It was just as excellent as 2008, and it was totally cool getting to open for Mudhoney and Pierced Arrows there.

Our big highlights from 2008 were playing the Wild Weekend powerpop festival (The Boys, Pointed Sticks, 20 20, Nikki Corvette, Black And Whites, Baby Shakes, etc.) in Austin in August, and the Slabtown Bender festival in Portland in February. Our two-week Southwest tour was a blast, and we got to play with a lot of great bands and make a bunch of new friends. We released the Misson Boy single and were excited by all the good reviews and airplay.

2007 was our inaugural year. We played shows in SF and Oakland, released the Smash Up The Radio single, and thought about how we would handle all our forthcoming fame and fortune.

We've gotten a bunch of airplay at a lot of cool radio stations, and we especially like KUSF! Our album was the #19 most played record there in 2010, and all of our singles have charted in the Top 30.

We always enjoy playing shows with good bands! Here's some we've been fortunate enough to share the stage with: The Avengers, Big Fun, The Bug Nasties, The Cathy Santonies, Chixdiggit, The Cute Lepers, Davila 666, The Dwarves, Facts On File, The Fresh & Onlys, Gentleman Jesse And His Men, Kepi Ghoulie, The Girls, Gorevette, Grass Widow, Harlem, Head, King Louie One Man Band, Lords Of Altamont, Nobunny, Paul Collins' Beat, Prima Donna, Pure Country Gold, Quintron And Miss Pussycat, Jay Reatard, Riverboat Gamblers, River City Tanlines, Slow Club, Sugar Stems, Top Ten, The Tranzmitors, The Undertones, Unwed Teenage Mothers, Wax Museums, whatever brains, White Mystery, and The Wrong Words.
