We live and breathe and sound like the city. A city which may be like yours...a city which may be yours. You can hear us in the wind between the buildings, whispering the sounds of progress; concrete and lumber, steel and the harbour. It sounds like rock...

Until recently, Hamilton based musician/songwriter Adrian Murchison had always been ‘the bassist’ in various groups, achieving regional notoriety playing a strain of rock that mixed melody and aggression with a little bit of math thrown in for good measure. Once said groups had run their collective course, Murchison found himself looking upon a clean slate, musically and personally.
Sounding a bit more Guided By Voices and a lot less Slint, the initial songs cut against the grain of Murchison’s musical history; developed with a much more direct ‘strum and sing’ simplicity than his past work. Murchison has grown his most recent works with some of the other ‘young veterans' of the Hamilton indie rock scene. “I wanted to play with friends,” says Murchison “I wanted people I knew I could count on...who would fit with the mood of the band.” Those players are drummer Nick Daleo, bassist Vince Tompa and lead guitarist 'Jag.' All three are restlessly creative players in their own right, already busy with projects of their own, but have now come together under Murchison’s musical tutelage to form ‘Pneumatic Transit’.
The group already has its first EP, “In the Future We Will Run On Air” in the can and is currently supporting the release through chronic live work. “We're trying to play as many shows as we can before winter returns, at which point we're planning to begin work on our first full-length,” declares Murchison, “I think the time on the road will give the songs a chance to live a little; then we can take them into the studio and see what comes of them. Then we'll be back out touring heavily in 2010.”
If the 5 songs found on this introductory EP are merely an indication of things to come, one should be keen to hear what the future brings for this exciting new outfit. Running on air perhaps, but most definitely fueled by the inspired creativity of personal and musical rejuvenation. Pneumatic Transit may be the sound of mid-twenties maturity kicking in with a bit more taste and grace, but the boys are still hanging out at the right parties and bringing some solid rock songs along to show for it all.
