His first book of poetry, 'TOMORROW, I WILL GO DANCING', is now available through flapjack press via amazon, the mucusart website (put in a google search for flapjack press!) a number of small bookshops across Britain and of course at any of the listed gigs!
Amazing! I'm just discovering performance poetry i the Uk - it existing in the north is making me especially happy - up until about a month ago the only poets I've been able to find are from the states - do you have any poets / venues you can recommend? cheers x
Poets and mash was great last night. It seemed pretty packed and I think it was the most enjoyable and diverse line up yet. Keep treating us to these great nights and I'll keep coming, chris. X
Gosh! I remember Niven Ganner! We did that project at the Contact Theater with the computers and he was amongst us. You did the Barbie being fat and she threw up inorder to be skinny! Ha!
Dominic Berry... infinately important yet simoultaneously absolutely accessible. He either commands supreme excesses of confidence, or an aspirational lack of anxiety... whatever influences, woes, and conviction have mouded him, one thing is lucid, and that's his superstardom. Long *must* it continue.
Hope you're feeling better. Sorry you weren't at the workshop yesterday. It would have been nice to see you. Hopefully catch up with you and Rod soon. Sarah x
Well it's been months since I've posted anything in my blog section, many illnesses have been and gone, projects of various sizes done and a dislocated jaw which stopped my Freed UP! attendence the past two months.
But now I'm back to post and I'm starting with the poems I would have read this month, they are dark and they might very well be Evil.
Were you at FREED UP on Thursday 16th October? 'Twas deliciously EVIL so it were.
Over at www. myspace. com/freeduppoets there's space for you to post your EVIL poems and read others. We've not done this sort of thing in ages. You should definitely post your poems. It'll be like a big... evil... jamboree!
Jamboree. Yes, that's the right word.
So, come on over to FREED UP's myspace site and post your poems. It's dead good (in an evil kind of way)! We're shining torches under our faces and giving each other the willies...
Not as yet, couldn't make the damn launch :! haha Provided the dole gets it's act together i'll buy one definately :D Monday night was top by the way..my dad is loud :P x
I saw your article in the Metro news, as I was on my way home from college. And just want to say is was a great and interesting read (interesting in a good way). I love the Greenroom poetry meetings, full of super talent and always up for a laugh.
Anyway I am thinking of poping down to the session at the central libery, but if I don't make it I wish you all the best.
Fantastic book launch Dominic. I laughed, was moved and felt truly entertained. You are a fruity force of nature and I felt priviledged to have seen your performance tonight. Tomorrow I might even go dancing myself. Thanks, Sarah x
Will be at the next one if it destroys me! haha yeah Gerry is =]
You ever heard of Rosie Lugosi? Not sure i spelt the name right she does short stories of a horror/gothic nature, possibly poems too. She has a myspace if you haven't :) Pops
The second of our guests for the next POETS AND MASH has been announced.... the unmistakable Lisa B
If you haven't been lucky enough to see Lisa B in action yet, where have you been?! A Canadian poet in love with Manchester, she is articulate, passionate, political, occasionally raunchy, and frequently very funny
There will be 1 final guest poet announced for the bank holiday weekend date shortly. Watch this space for updates!
