Spymonkey makes physical, comedic theatre and their award-winning brand of comedy is a 21st century mix of Fawlty Towers, The Marx Brothers and Mel Brooks, overflowing with brilliant characters, visual humour, slapstick comedy and outrageous naughtiness.
On the Saturday of the season's opening weekend, we welcome a fabulous family musical - Bink and the Hairy Fairy. Join Bink as he endeavours to defeat the evil Lord Murkor, with a little help from his friends and something altogether a little hairier! On Sunday night the fabulous David Benson opens Noel Coward's masterful songbook for a sparkling evening of music and sing-alongs
Later in the season local company The River People, present a preview performance of their new show Lilly through the Dark (Thursday 21st May). A magical story of the macabre, inspired by real events, the show tells the story of a little girl who loses her father. The River People use their own dark style of puppetry, live music and poetic language to tell this intimate and touching story.
The Summer Strides dance festival returns this summer, special highlights include iconic dance company The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs with Dancing on your Grave (Thursday 18th June) and a very special evening of electrifying Latin dance on Friday 26th June with Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris Marques and Jaclyn Spencer, collectively known as Cuban Groove.
The wonderfully intimate Eastleigh Music Festival takes place over the weekend of the 10-12th July. Friday nights headline act is the wonderful Eddi Reader, with support from The Demon Barbers – winners of best live act at the 2009 BBC Radio 2 folk awards.
Saturday night's headliner is British Sea Power described by The Sunday Times as “The best band in Britain”. They will be supported by King Creosote who have emerged as one of the true spearheads of the recent folk revival and are described as “utterly fabulous” by The Guardian.
