About me: After 4 or so years, the basement has come to an end.
Underneath a shop in Portsmouth The Basement has been home to the true 'underground' skating scene in Portsmouth for over 4 years. From it's first days as a 12 ft wide 5 ft mini with too little flat bottom to the 75ft wide monstrosity it is today it has been supported by a hardcore crew of skaters;
John, Sanny, Gary, Eric, Harvey, Tyrone, Toby, 'Tex' Pete, Vince, BA, Andy, Nat 'Teach', Rob, Tony T, Bish
What more can be said, for the stinking, spore ridden hot house, that gave me the chance to learn to skate again after a 12 year break, and 3 years of sessions with friends I've had for 15 years, new friends I've made, long live the basement vibe, roll on, "Grinders" the dream will live on. Oh and thanks to John Nick for making it all happen
Real sorry to hear the basement has bitten the dust. I never skated it but John L & Mark F kept me stoked with tales of the sessions there. RIP Portsmouth
I'd like to dedicate all the half arsed, sketchy, stink footed, poor
excuses for tricks i learnt there to
The Basement. Not because i'm sad, for all things must pass. But mostly because that is where skateboarding
like that should stay, hidden away
from all others deep underground where
they belong! R.I.P
