The Pop Rocks released their 1st self titled EP/CD this past summer and had a Summer Explosion Tour in support of it. They spent the spring working hard on their live show and rocked the summer away. They finished working on a video for KDKA's Home Town series which is now airing and features their song, A Place Like This.
The Pop Rocks formed in June 2008 as one of the bands of The Summer Rock Shop program at The Davis School of Guitar Performance. They toured last summer with The Rock Shop bands and developed into a strong group, with a solid fan base. The Pop Rocks have since continued on, working out challenging music, increasing their set list and polishing their performance.
They have performed shows at The Station Square Amphitheatre, Slippery Rock University, Club Diesel, TJ's Hideaway, Zelienople Horse Trading Days - Moraine Regatta - The Summer Rock Shop Concert - The Rock 'n' Fashion Fire Ball - Strand Theatre/Northern Nightmares.
They have performed live on ESPN Radio, appearing on Stan & Guys radio show.
They have performed live on WQED Channel 13 TV's On Q Magazine.
They have currently received over 700,000 views on youtube of their new Steelers Song "Heartbreakers" and have performed at the WDVE 102.5 Morning Show Steeler send off party at Club Diesel in the south side.
Current set list of cover songs includes Journey, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, 4 Non-Blondes, No Doubt, U2, Avril Lavigne, Pat Benatar, Gary Nueman, Blondie, Modern English, The Cure, The Beatles & Christine Aguilera.
The Pop Rocks are not only talented young musicians who enjoy making music together, they are a group of friends who enjoy just hanging out with each other as well. Keep an eye on them. They are going somewhere. Be sure to watch their videos and leave some comments.
