Floods are a unique Portland based band that combines elements of classic country, ragtime, old fiddle tunes, and bluegrass with intelligent, well-crafted songwriting to create a sound both contemporary and timeless!
HONKY - TONK -WHAT WHAT !!
Floods began when lead singer and ASCAP award winning songwriter Michael Luketan fled his Georgia home and landed in Portland, OR. Here he hooked up with Portland native Danny McIrvin, who had been studying older styles of American and Irish Folk music for years. Danny plays lead guitar, dobro, banjo, and just about any stringed instrument he can carry to a show. When Molly D. returned to town after a four year stint at Berklee College of Music, she added a fiddle to the fiddle tunes and high harmonies to the vocals. Tommy Suitcase, another Portland native, plays bass and harmonica and lends his deep bluesy vocals to the mix. Floods rock a bluegrass happy hour every Thursday night at The Know!
