From uncertain origins emerge the Prabes, a genre bending musical outfit based in Calgary, Alberta. Featuring only one original member, and even less original content, the band is a mash of past projects and sonic influences, comprised of five individuals: Hayden Dallison on lead vocals and guitar, Sam McCartney on lead guitar, Adam Funk on bass, Eric Jessee on drums, and Lucas Hrubizna on keyboards and various other instrumental duties. On the subject of lyrical content, it has been said that the Prabes are a group who "write bad poems and put them to music", exploiting plays on words and common phrases and ultimately telling unconventional stories. Drawing obvious influences from the realms of garage, psych, punk and second wave ska, the band produces a strange, high energy sound and an interesting series of compositions that lack the emotional turmoil expected from the likes of male high school students.
